The Wind Rises (Miyazaki)

Miyazaki's new flick just came out in Japan recently (I think), which means it'll be a bit (year, maybe more) before we get access to it.

Apparently "kid's didn't like it" and it's pissing off conservative Japanese folks. (the movie explores some controversial issues about WW2 Japan)

Which makes me very excited to see it after Miyazaki's more childish (but still fun) Ponyo.

Let's see if this is good. I am expecting to be better than his last two movies.

Hmm, the biography of a plane engineer, during World War II, yes, it sounds like something kids would largely enjoy.

I'm actually more interested on this movie, given the kind of criticism and controversy it gets. I wonder if this will be somehow related to the Porco Rosso ideas, or more in tone with his early works. One way or the other I'm sold.

I recently just saw it and I really enjoyed it. The artwork was really well done, the music was great, loved Joseph Gordon Levitt's voice for the main character and I enjoyed the story. It did seem a bit slow though, not saying that's a bad thing, just something that takes some getting use to. All in all, I recommend it to someone who enjoys touching movies.
