Master of My Domain
Jokes aside, here is my system, posted on my review thread:

Ratings:

- Masterpiece, all-time favorite
- Great film but a bit missing in terms of quality
- Solid, and very tolerable
- Good, but not great

For films with the ratings above I'll use this pic to end my review

- Meh, but certainly watchable and has a lot of decent stuff in it.
- Lacking a lot, but still you can salvage a couple of things.
- Very mediocre or slightly horrible.

For films with the ratings above I'll use this pic

- Overall a horrible film.
- Total waste of time.
or less - A cinematic disaster and a disgrace to humanity.

Films with the ratings above will have this classic pic

Welcome to the human race...
I don't rate something unless I see it all the way through, even when it's bad, otherwise it calls all my other ratings into question.

Iro's Top 100 Movies v3.0

I know I did a rating scale in another thread, but I am too lazy to look it up. So I will re do it here.

These fall into three categories. First are those I believe are cinematic masterpieces. The best of the best. These include classic films like Taxi Driver, The Godfather, It's A Wonderful Life, Stalker, Blade Runner, etc plus a few modern masterpieces like Mulholland Drive, The Wolf of Wall Street and American Sniper. I also give this rating to films that really capture a lot of what I like in films and do so above and beyond similar movies. Themes like crime, grit, dark humor, sleaze, etc. So while they may not be on the same technical level of say The Godfather, do not be that surprised to see me The Boondock Saints, Thriller: They Call Her One Eye or Vice Squad with this rating. And finally you have the fanboy squee rating for films like The Avengers and The Dark Knight.

These are excellent films! Really really good movies that are almost masterpieces. Might be just a little something holding it back, but still well worth your while. These are films range from the likes of Casino, Birdman, Iron Man, Ted, the majority of the Disney animated films I grew up with, a lot of De Palma's movies like Body Double I rate this. Good for lots of rewatches, and most likely will land in my DVD collection.

Very good movies. Have a few flaws here and there, but they do not distract me from enjoying the film. Will most certainly rewatch these movies. This is also the highest rating I wil rate for movies I deem guilty pleasures. Very flawed but bring me a lot of joy for whatever reason. I rate a lot of Lynch, Wes Anderson, and Kurosawa movies here. Movies like Lost Highway, The Fantastic Mr Fox, Drunken Angel, After Hours and the like.

These are good movies. They have more noticeable flaws or just don't connect with me. But I still think the film was well worth the viewing, they did do some things or at least one thing very well. I might rewatch it in the future but odds of buying it on DVD are slim. Over all good and serviceable/ The most recent film I rated this was the live action Cinderella movie, also includes Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, Backdraft, Last Tango in Paris, or The Enforcer.

This is where the flaws are too hard to ignore. No longer can I say it is good, but I can't say they are bad. These movies are average. No real connection is made, you start to get more questionable choices in writing and casting. They may do one thing very well, but the flaws are just too big to over look. Ted 2 was the most recent example of this category.

This is where films are just mediocre. Nothing special, nothing to really standout, and not that enjoyable. Pain and Gain, Crimson Tide, and Phantoms. And I only gave Phantoms that cuz Affleck was the bomb in Phantoms yo! I also give certain arthouse movies this rating temporarily if I feel a rewatch is in order. Like I did not get it the first time around but I will appreciate it more with another viewing. Like Andrei Rublev.

This is where the bad films begin. While their is obvious technical skill involved and the crafting of the visuals are good, they fail to either tell a good story, are really boring, or start to become just painful to watch. Flaws are far more pronounced here then before, and there is very little redeeming value. Though I must emphasis I do not hate these films. Also expect to see unfunny comedies start to show up. Films like Nashville, Fifty Shades of Grey, Bamboozled, and The Lost World.

THIS! Is where the hate begins. Still has technical skill, but boy do these movies piss me off. Man of Steel, Inglorious Basterds, and Salo reside here.

This is where these films really start to break down. Writing goes to new lows, horrible miscasting, terrible artistic choices, and where movies can REALLY can piss me off! This is where we see Star Wars: The Phantom Menace and Clone Wars show up, Mortal Kombat Annihilation, that one movie that pretended to be a Indiana Jones movie shows up, Terminater Genisys, Batman and Robin, Spring Breakers, and World War Z.

Damn near the bottom of the barrel. This is where things bottom out even further. This is where technical aspects really go to hell. Manos the Hands of Fate, Vasa De Noces, The Room, Freddy Got Fingered, and the like.

Only three movies get this rating. The first is The Blair Witch Project. Has had this rating ever since I saw it in the movie theater as a kid. Also the two Italian made, animated Titanic films. That feature talking animals, Mexican mice, mouse sailors, rapping dogs, giant squids, sharks prison gangs, and two crappy love stories both aboard the Titanic all to cash in on the James Cameron Titanic craze. F**K those movies!

Sorry Harmonica.......I got to stay here.
I rate them by how much I enjoy them. I don't care how arty it is, or who directed it, or how acclaimed it is, etc. If I genuinely enjoy a film, then afterwards I'll go back to break it down and pick out the elements that I think made it what it is. I'm also a big believer in how long it stays with you-- for example, A River Runs Through It might hang with me for a long time, so it gets a much higher rating for that.

For sure. Some movies make an impact and stay on ones mind for years. Others might make an impact at the time of release, but over years they become one of many movies you have seen.

7 or 7.5 out of 10's are movies i like but won't be as compelled to rewatch as 8's
7-range examples: Good Burger (1997), Mean Girls (2004), Jason Lives (1986)

8 or 8.5's are movies i enjoyed but won't be as compelled to rewatch as 9's
8-range examples: Frankenstein (1931), Gremlins (1984), Return of the Jedi (1983)

9 or 9.5's are movies i enjoyed but won't be as compelled to rewatch as 10's
9-range examples: Predator (1987), American Graffiti (1973), Rain Man (1988)

10's are movies i'd rewatch as soon as they're over
10-range examples: Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974), Dirty Dancing (1987), White Men Can't Jump (1992)

6 or 6.5 are usually movies that are probably better but i didn't like them much for whatever reason. Or dumb semi-enjoyable slasher flicks
6-range examples: Child's Play (1988), Freddy vs Jason (2003), most Tarantino flicks, not terrible company

anything 5 or below is meh or boring and i don't feel like talking about them

Woody Allen is a pedophille
- Perfect Movie
- Amazing Movie
- Great Movie
- Good Movie
- Mediocre Movie
- Bad Movie
- Horrible Movie
- Disgusting Movie
- Horrible Excuse For a Movie
- Calling it a Movie Would be a disgrace to Other Movies
