It is probably a color movie you're looking for, but if it is black and white, that also happens in the climax of the little known but great fifties B, Plunder Road. That involves a robbery, not smuggling.
This link here mentions the climax. I agree with the poster this is a very overlooked film and in my opinion superior to Stanley Kubrick's The Killing, which it slightly resembles. Director Hubert Cornfield made very few movies, but they are mostly good ones, the best maybe being Pressure Point.
