Contact --- Jodie Foster was real good as a scientist who discovers a signal coming from deep space, hidden in the signal are schematics for a machine that will transport one person through space. I wont spoil what happens for anyone who hasnt seen it but Jodie's performance in the last part of the film, her speech was amazing and filled with such emotion i think it was great. I was totally gripped.

It was for me too. I own it on DVD but i really don't think i'll be watching it that much, the slow pace of it killed me, i just didnt think the story that comes before the horrid horrid ending really justifies it.

I thought it resembled the spawn of Alfred Hitchcock and David Cronenberg. The pacing, for me, was crucial to the story - ie, it's a love story with Asami's revealed past and Aoyama's increasing guilt building throughout the film.

The ending is, true, not for everyone and subsequent viewings haven't made it any easier to watch.

"Love me only." yeah right... :)

Be Cool --- I am a massive fan of Get Shorty and i watch it every day, and this film was a big let down. I was sorely disappointed with it. Firstly it did something that drives me insane about films, in Get Shorty Chilli and Bo Catlett talk about Harvey Keitel and later on Harvey Keitel plays himself acting in a role. Now in Be Cool Harvey Keitel plays another character. ARGHHHHHH! Vince Vaughn's character was mildly funny but just annoying mostly. The Rock stole the show for me really, his 'monologue' part was so funny. Andre 3000's scenes were pretty good too as the trigger happy Daboo. I was disappointed with Uma Thurman's performance though, the character was just a bit rubbish and she might as well have not been there. It seemed like this movie tried to cash in on the fact that it would obviously make a lot of money and has tried to cram in as many famous people as it possibly could.

Being John Malkovich (1999 - Spike Jonze)

Finally bought this on DVD the other day, i'd seen it once before and loved it but watched it again last night and enjoyed every second of it, genius story telling from Spike Jonze (In his feature length directorial debut) and the magnificant Kaufman. This is original as it gets, a portal into Malkovich's body, where we see what it would really be like to actually be inside someone else...i found as i was watching it, if you think about it too much, your brain just gets mega tied up, i mean what would happen if whilst Malkovich is inside his own head in the bizarre Malkovich world, he went into the portal again? Would he be Malkovich inside Malkovich in Malkovich world inside Malkovich? Crazy stuff. Cusack is absoloutly cringing and wonderful as the dispicable Craig, whilst Diaz is still just as charming as the frizzy and genderly confused Lotte. And even though she's a megabitch, Catherine Keener is so so sexy as lust object Maxine. But even though we have all these odd odd goings on in the film, such as the 7 and a half floor and Dr Lester's 'Lonely and impenetrable tower of speech impediment', i still found the story to have a grounded and touching side helped by a beautiful score by Carter Burwell and spectacular cinematography to compliment it. I would be a happy man if more films like this were being produced, borderline genius :yup:
http://red-colored.org/lazysod/stars/five.gif

Sleeping Beauty (1959 - Clyde Geronimi)

Classic Disney that i hadnt seen for a long time. I enjoyed it much more than i remembered i would and its easy to see why this is still a classic. Maleficent is still one of the coolest Disney villains. "Listen well, all of you. The Princess shall indeed grow in grace and beauty, beloved by all who know her. But, before the sun sets on her 16th birthday, she shall prick her finger, on the spindle of a spinning wheel - AND DIE!"
http://red-colored.org/lazysod/stars/four.gif

The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996 - Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise)
I had only seen this Disneyfied version of the story once before and i remember not liking it much, and after watching it today, i now know why, this is Disney at its darkest! Pole-Dancing! Disfigurement! Cartoon Demi Moore's boobies! Lust! Fire! God! Hell! Gargoyles! Tony Jay's creepy evil Judge Claude Frollo is pant-messingly horrid as the villain, lusting over Moore's Esmerelda and sniffing her hair whilst sneering and gyrating in front of his fireplace. Wrong wrong wrong. The story was probably a bit too dark for its audience upon its release, and if i remember correctly it didnt do well...most likely due to the fact that most of its viewers probably didnt sleep for about a month after seeing it. The story is good and dark until the end when it just falls apart as Disney's sugar coated brush (dissapointingly) paints over the horror and flames for an anti-climactic joy joy ending. But over all the horror of it was actually quite fun.

I like his nods to Hitch, especially the cameo's, it just adds more of a personal touch to his films...and his ego. Although it did help me get the twist before i actually saw the film as it didn't take me long to realise there probably wasn't many Asian-American pilgrims during the eighteenth century American settlers....

Plot holes? heh, okie-dokie:

The one I was referring to was Night's wittering on about the uproar when plane flights were banned from the nature reserve's airspace.

Also: The monster suit under thr floorboard (in the room where the hyper-curious Noah is banished, apparently regularly). What about the secret shed where they were supposedly kept and Ivy being sworn to secrecy? The ending of the film depends on this handy conceit.

The main thing that spoiled The Village for me was the dreadful script - the film looks wonderful (kudos to Roger Deakins), Phoenix and Howard are excellent as the leads but I think the whole thing could have been handled in a much less smug, portentous way. Second viewing improved the experience from when I saw it in the cinema - I was able to appreciate performance more - but I still think The Village is a great looking but ultimately shallow (and nasty if you want to read it that way, I couldn't be bothered to try) movie.

Much more interesting if Noah had fallen in love with Lucius...

But then you would have to kill the cute blind girl. :)

£3.99 in the HMV sale? I bought it there a few days ago. Excellent movie.:)I know! It was so cheap! Plus its a great DVD as well, have you watched the feautures? The interview with Jonze about the movie is brilliant, he just gives up halfway through and throws up and leaves.
Plot holes? heh, okie-dokie:
I thought Nights wittering and the name of the said place in which he was wittering was just subtle information that didnt need explaining too much and would satisfy any pedantic viewers who would have unanswered questions about the plot ;)

Also, perhaps Noah stole the object under the floorboards without the elders noticing?...but then again didnt his parents know it was under there? I take it your suggesting that why hide one under there when theres a whole shed full of them in the village? Maybe it was an emergancy one!?...maybe not.

Also about Ivy being sworn to secrecy over the contents of the shed, meant that when she is eventually atacked by a creature, as she is blind she does not see the true identity of it, so she returns to the village still believing there are real creatures in the woods. I think it all works out really nicely. Noah's actions prove the whole theme of the film, the idea of the only monsters existing in the world are in the darkness of mankind, the reason the village exists.

As for the rest of what you say...i more or less agree with. :)

Much more interesting if Noah had fallen in love with Lucius...

But then you would have to kill the cute blind girl. :)
And in her debut performance that would be a little mean...although she is a ginger so it would be passable ;)

I think I've bought 10 DVDs in the HMV clearout so far (need to keep limiting myself but there's a store down the road so, hey) - The 39 Steps for £2.99, Lost In La Mancha for £3.99 as well as ...Malkovich. A great film, love the character of Patrick Bateman, representing the materialistic, consumer ridden society of 80's America where corperations are a way of life and the height of sophistication, popularity and cool is to get a reservation at the hippest restaurant in town. actually i did to a degree...while the violence was a little over the top i really enjoyed mickey rourke as marv and the entire bruce willis/jessica alba love story...it was beautifully filmed and well acted...

as far as the others:

i love meet joe black...one of the more intelligent films out there...always gets me on the death and taxes line

what a girl wants is another one that i watch everytime it hits cable...i love the soundtrack, oliver james, jonathan pryce and colin firth

firsttime i've ever seen wild hearts can't be broken...i thought it was a good disney film

and i'd recommend the upside of anger to everyone...well acted and that includes good ole kevin costner

It's the first Linder picture I've seen, and boy what great fun it was. The mirror gag is priceless, and I must say this film is one of my new favorites of silent comedy era. Linder's comedy gags are great, perhaps not as great as Keaton or Chaplin, although some Keaton features are dissapointing compared to Linder's material in Seven Years Bad Luck. The film is exactly what a great silent comedy should be.

Bloody Sunday (2002 - Paul Greengrass). Very good, very upsetting and very realistic. The on-the-streets scenes looked exactly like a documentary, fantastically well done. Greengrass tried to make the dramatized scenes in a similar way, with shaky cameras and all that. If I had to complain about something, and I guess I always have to, I think these "drama scenes" should have been filmed in a more conventional style, so to speak. I think that would have made it all even better and made the scenes of the marching, the riots and the shootings feel even more real. But aside from that, I have nothing to complain about. Brilliant film and James Nesbitt et al were great.

Get Shorty --- I love this film so much, largely because its just so damn cool. This movie doesn't try too hard and just sorta goes with the flow whereas its sequel tried way too hard. Chilli Palmer is just the coolest cat on the block and John Travolta is real good in this movie. Dennis Farina in this movie is so darn funny especially when he beats up Harry Zimm (Gene Hackman).

Abre los ojos (Open Your Eyes)(Open Your Eyes) (1997 - Alejandro Amenábar)
Finally got to see this last night, i'm a big fan of the remake (see below) and have been waiting to see this for a while. I really enjoyed it, but i found myself not caring as much about the characters as i do with the remake. Cruz is still mesmerizingly charming as Sofia, and Eduardo Noriega is brialliant as Cesar. The story is still superb, with the twist ending being just as mind boggling. However, i think Vanilla Sky has a bigger heart than this original.

4

Vanilla Sky (2001 - Cameron Crowe)
I saw this before Abre los ojos, and after viewing the original, i mucg prefer this version. Cruise is just as good as Eduardo Noriega as our tormented protagonist, and all the other cast live up to their predacessors, but it is the cinematography, soundtrack and story adaptation that gets my vote for this version. This version just looks better. OK, probably due to the fact Crowe would have had a much much bigger budget than Amenábar, but it really works. The beautiful Vanilla Sky's, the creepy subliminal flashbacks, and the astounding end scene on the roof top. The soundtrack is superb with artists like Paul McCartney, R.E.M, Chemical brothers and Bob Dylan. Its probably Crowes script that i like the most, he makes the original story slightly more abstract, leaving out key details and changing some scenes dramitcally and adding whole new ones. i found the climax of the film far more emotional than the original, Kurt Russell done a better job than the wimpering character we see on the roof top in the original, and David and Sofia's goodbye, then as he falls with all his life and dreams flashing before him is just wonderful. Great film. :)

The Manchurian Candidate (2004, Jonathan Demme)

3/5

So-so remake of a classic. Watchable enough - Liev Schreiber is excellent, Denzel a bit subdued and Meryl Streep is, well, hammy (even accounting for the nature of her role).

Bonus points to Demme for shoehorning Charles Napier, Ted Levine, Robyn Hitchcock and Roger Corman into the story though...

I preferred the Brit remake starring notorious Civil Rights activist 'Big' Ron Atkinson -

My advice is to keep your eyes constantly peeled. Even if you have to make a little trip out of it, I think it'd be worth it. I can't wait to see it again.

Psycho - I was disappointed that out of all of Hitchcock's library of work my History of Motion Pictures class teacher chose this one. I would have much rather seen a more obscure, lesser known one. I did enjoy the hell out of it though. Norman Bates is one of the creepiest characters ever put on film. A

Hotel Rwanda - Phenomenal cast in this movie. The entire movie was very enlightening and educational for me. A

Ocean's Twelve - I like this one a lot better than the first one, and I really liked the first one. The music is so hyperactive, as well as the editing. Topher Grace's cameo was great. "I totally phoned in that Dennis Quaid movie." B+

Need some help placing a movie. My dad could only tell me this much. Terence Hill was the main person and in one scene he was talking to another person. It went a little bit like this:

"You have to be careful. People are really fast around here. Here, I'll show you."
He then smacks the guy and pulls his guy out.
"Do you see that? Let me show you again."
He does it again.
"You didn't catch that."
He does it again.
The guy then says "Uh yeah, I saw it now."

Terence Hill's character goes by the name Right Hand of the Devil in this film. I can't be too sure of this but, my dad can't seem to remember it. He wants to see it again; he say it in the Navy.

The dialogue is misremembered, but that's a scene from Hill's Spaghetti Western parody Trinity is Still My Name. A similar bit of action takes place in My Name is Nobody too.

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory --- the older one. Gene Wilder is fantastic as the rude and very creepy Willy Wonka. Best bit in a film ever, when the door to the chocolate room is opened. Willy Wonka says 'Hold your breath, make a wish' and I always do because that scene takes my breath away every time i see it.

Chicago --- Im a sucker for musicals and this one blew me away because i had just never seen anything like it before. I had no idea this cast could sing and i was really surprised. Rob Marshall did a great job reinventing this movie and i found everything to be spot on. Great costumes, really cool transitions and introductions to different numbers.

Brother - I like Kitano. He just seems like he'd be the coolest guy in the worl to hang out with. Whether as a blind old guy, or as a cold hearted yakuza killer. I liked Brother more than Zatoichi, but the English speaking cast in this one was pretty bad for the most part.

Mr. 3000 - I liked it but it could have been better. the romantic subplot was tacked on and nearly ruined the entire flick. Why can't they have just made the entire movie about Bernie Mac trying to play baseball? That part of it was good. I hate focus group inspired cinema.

Pretty good stuff, was a bit scary seeing these families from these downtrodden area's of the states entering their kids into these spelling Bee thingy's for all that money. Although the kids seemed to be overly obsessed with spelling so im sure they didnt mind too much. The little dude with the braces and serious verbal diarreoha was hilarious. Shame he gets booted out quite early on. Funny stuff although not that engagaing.

Interview With a Vampire (1994 - Neil Jordan)
Great film. Cruise is wonderful as Lestat de Lioncourt, this was his first performance that actually made me realise his a good character performer...if you get what i mean. Pitt is nothing spesh as troubled Louis, whilst Dunst is superb as the never changing Claudia. Great script by Rice, i really should read the books one day. The film looks amazing and has an awsome soundtrack to accompany the epic story. Great stuff.

Mulholland Dr. (2001 - David Lynch)
My second viewing of this, and the first of many viewings i will be having over the coming weeks as i have to write an essay on this mindf*ck of a film. Superb stuff, there is so so much to say about this film. If you ignore the genius story, it looks brilliant, sounds superbly creepy and Watts is wonderful as Betty/Diane and Theroux is brilliant as troubled director Adam. The story just blows me away. I think i have it kind of figured out, need lots more viewings though. If an illusion can give you real emotions and desires, but it is only an illusion, not real, then are your emotions only an illusion?

All Quiet on the Western Front (1930, second time)

I have a real hard time enjoying films from this general time period (Edit:except for some comedies). I'm sure it's a fantastic movie for its time, but I find the acting to be downright horrible compared to movie acting decades later, and that just ruins it for me. A+ for achievement, and the bad acting does give me a few laughs, but I really don't care for watching this thing.

So extremely flashy and loud as opposed to classic and elogent.

Eloquent? Elegant? What I saw was just plain goofy compared to the acting in Instinct. FOR ITS TIME is another story, but that movie acting was lousy compared to the movie acting of today. The silly looks on the actors' faces, the other overacting, the robotic, monotone voices; give me a mediocre sized break please.

A couple main reasons come to mind. People were basically just then learning how to act in movies with sound. It's a completely different style than silent movies and stage plays. Another good reason for the lack of quality acting back then compared to today is how much they rushed the actors. Clark Gable, for example, made 10 movies in a year. There's no way you could do that today, or in the 50s for that matter, because of how many more takes there are/were.

Giving people and films their just due is one thing (notice the A+ for achievement in my All Quiet on the Western Front message), but making them out to be something they are not, just because they were impressive, is something else entirely. Keep in mind that this is coming from someone who loves Instinct, so I have no credibility; right, Holden?

4/5

Enjoyable documentary following Pacino's efforts to dramatise The Bard's Richard III. All star cast - Alec Baldwin, Kevin Spacey (with shiny bald spot..hooray, he's OUT!), Wynona Ryder etc. Interviews with Gielgud, Branagh, Kevin Kline, Jakobi and Vanessa Redgrave.

The only downside is Little Shouty Al's performance as Richard - in the "Now is the winter of our discontent....HOO HAA!!" mould.

Looking at it from the point of view of an actor in search of his muse though, Looking For Richard is fascinating, though how real is it? ;)

It could be the same thing. About a romance between a destitute tax collecter and a female ghost. The ghosts all wear these long, flowing outfits which is probably the "whispy things" you remember.

As to whether it's any good, it was okay. It generally looks beautiful (colored lighting, great setting, goreous undead women), likeable characters etc. but as a movie that relies heavilly on effects and choreography I get the feeling it hasn't aged very well (asside from some fun stop-motion). It's not a bad movie, but there are better ones - such as Mr. Vampire or Zu: warriors of the magic mountain. Not that Zu's effects don't look sort of cheesy now too, but it does a lot more with less.

Interview With a Vampire (1994 - Neil Jordan)
...i really should read the books one day. There are quite a few of them…most of them being tired, preachy, and full of whining Vampires. I recommend reading the first two (Interview with a Vampire, The Vampire Lestat) and skipping ahead to The Vampire Armand and Blood and Gold (which is Marius’ story – The Vampire who created Armand). All of these are quite good, and center on periods of time that are long gone. It seems to me that a lot of her stories (especially when they’re centered in our time) get really silly at times, and like I’ve hinted already, the Vampires really get into their, “poor, poor, me” modes. It gets tedious and boring. THEN she decided to incorporate her Vampire Chronicles into her Mayfair Witch Chronicles, making them both turn plain old crappy. I also hated the lauded Memnoch the Devil book which centers on Lestat actually going to heaven and hell and interviewing Lucifer himself.

The main character for all her tales is usually Lestat. I always wished that someone worthy would make The Vampire Lestat into a film, but instead, Anne Rice sanctioned Queen of the Damned, which is the 3rd book of the Chronicles, and it was made terribly. I mean, c’mon! At the end of the film, all the central characters are involved, but the director never even tells us who’s who! Gawd! I HATE that film. What a piece of ****! Anywho…

Mulholland Dr. (2001 - David Lynch)
If an illusion can give you real emotions and desires, but it is only an illusion, not real, then are your emotions only an illusion? My favorite Lynch film, hands down. Just remember while you’re writing your thesis that there are sequences in the film that make no sense regardless how much you think on it or debate about it…they just exist; like a segment of a meaningful dream that is nothing but nonsense.

In answer to your question, though: No…emotions are real, regardless of its influence. But…you knew that. Bastard.

All Quiet on the Western Front (1930, second time)

...I find the acting to be downright horrible compared to movie acting decades later...Yeah…that’s a problem I have sometimes with older films too. The actors (and everybody else apparently) back then only seemed to know stage acting, which seemed to die off with the realism of the 60’s. Although…foreign films back then didn’t always have that problem like American and British films did. Then again, I’m not terribly schooled on all of this. I still love this film though and it rightfully belongs on my top ten list.

A few of my friends have read all of the books and have told me some things. Once my degree is over in about a months time i think im gonna give some of these a shot, especially The Vampire Lestat. Why in the hell did they end up making stupid Queen of the Damned after such a good adaptation of Interview with a Vampire? (even though from what ive heard it wasnt entirely faithful to the book.) Stupid.

My favorite Lynch film, hands down. Just remember while you’re writing your thesis that there are sequences in the film that make no sense regardless how much you think on it or debate about it…they just exist; like a segment of a meaningful dream that is nothing but nonsense. Its easy to say that about some of the scenes in the film, but i'm sure the sequences that dont fit must be there for a reason more than just to create nonsense...I must have meaning! Being an English student weve been beaten into examining every pointless miniscule detail of either a book or a film, so im sure theres something to say about all of the nonsense that is going on...even if all i come up withis nonsense.

In answer to your question, though: No…emotions are real, regardless of its influence. But…you knew that. Bastard. It was a rhetorical question :p

What i was referring to is the climax of the film, when it moves from detective story into land of crazyness when they visit Club Silencio and they watch the performance of Llorando (Crying). Its an absoloulty beautiful performance that makes Rita and Betty, and i think the viewers quite emotional, although we know from the start that she is not actually singing it, nor is there any instruments. Its all an illusion. This idea runs throughout the film, the whole first half is Dianne's creation, a dream. Her love for Camilla is born out of that dream/illusion, out of her desire. When we see Adam's movie set, the actress is miming along to a song for her role in the film....So thats why i was kind of thinking to myself about this whole theme of emotions being a product of illusions...just like when you watch a sad film....my brain feels funny.

Bastard

…(even though from what ive heard it wasnt entirely faithful to the book.) I thought it was a pretty damn good adaptation myself. I’ve read the book 3 times and seen the film twice more, and only have only noticed a few minor discrepancies. I think the main one is casting Antonio Banderas in the role of Armand, who is a Vampire with flaxen blond hair and only 15 years old in appearance. Claudia was a little more…wicked as well.

…but i'm sure the sequences that dont fit must be there for a reason more than just to create nonsense...I must have meaning!I’d really like to hear your explanation of the meaning of the book thief and what he does.

Sex, lies & videotapes --- fast forward through most of this s o i missed most of the plotline but i watched the last 45 all the way through. Why did you do this, pretty lady? Just to give me another headache? ;)

Yeah that was one of the things that really bothered a friend of mine. She kept banging on about it, but it didnt really bothered me as i hadnt read the book so i just smothered her with a pillow and continued to watch the film in peace.

I’d really like to hear your explanation of the meaning of the book thief and what he does.
Refresh my memory again, whose the book thief?

I will warn you though, i have only seen this twice, although i will be watching it several times again over the next few weeks, so you may have to wait for my astounding answer of geniussness.

Haha, rock! I'm glad you liked it. It's definitely not for everyone and walks such a fine line between art and asburdity that I think most people would hate it. It really surprised me.

Would I do that to you, my friend the frog??? Never. I hate spoilers. The first two episodes are really tight...They are called "33" and "Water", and set up some interesting story threads for the rest of the season. There are a couple of writing choices they made that I wasn't a big fan of (actually I just thought they were too predictable, but I guess they had to do it), but overall, it is just great stuff. We can rap about some of the concepts once you get into the season a fair amount....

Bonnie and Clyde - Excellent performances throughout. I especially liked the character of C.W. Moss. The editing in the finale is quite intense, something like 60 cuts within about a minute's timespan. Whew.

House of Flying Daggers - Liked it much more than Hero, mainly because the story was continuous and not scattered. The color really is spectacular in this one.

Well, the character of Wales isn't much of a spitter anyway. Though he does manage to hit the dog and a corpse when he needs to. The best bit of course is when he swallows his chew rather than expell it, after the disapproving stare from Grandma Sarah.

If you have the Special Edition DVD of Wales, check out the very end of the good retrospective documentary included, where under the closing credits Eastwood talks about the horrors of having to chew so much tobacco on the production. Very funny.

Bedknobs and broomsticks --- not my favourites but i love the 'old disney' films along with the likes of mary poppins, cinderella, peter pan, films that are family movies that are just really watchable. Angela Lansbury was charming as Eglentine Price the apprentice witch and David Tomlinson as the overly ambitious hack Professor Emeilius Brown. I do like this film a lot but in the middle it gets rather annoying

That's 'cos it's an homage, not a parody.

Though if repeatedly whacking a landlord with pool cues to the sound of Queen's Don't Stop Me Now is serious, then maybe I watched the wrong movie. :)

hei, a nice idea.
i especially like the fact that the Cylons progressively appear to be so human, and even potentially humane. i've seen 10 episodes so far. and Number 6 moved me when the other Cylon tells how he kinda wishes he knew what love feels like, and she like has tears in her eyes. till then i thought it was just a game between her and the scientist. plus the fact they seem to be really religious. same thing about Boomer version 2 on Caprica. amazing. and i liked that Leoben guy a lot. the episode when he gets tortured. at the beginning one may think he is just being manipulative and talking philosophical nonsense but then he even forgives Starbuck and puts his hand on the window for a last physical contact... wow, sad.
this show is just great. every night i barely can wait till the next day to see more episodes, and when the last episode on the dvd is finished, i don't wanna believe it! many times i forget, light a cigarette waiting for the next one, and *****, that's all, there are only 3 episodes on each dvd now, unlike the first one that had four...
the only thing disturbing me is that "frack" doesn't exist. that's not a word. F.U.C.K is one!! linguistically perfectly correct. and i'm a linguist.
all the rest, wow...
tell me what are the writing choices so far (till episode 10) you'd have made differently??

Sedai

The only change I waould have made, writing-wise, I can't elaborate on yet, as I would ruin it for you, but I thought I would wrap the srpoiler tags anyway! ;)

That episode with the interogation in it is one of my favorites. The scting on the cylon agents part was fantastic, as was starbucks. He also knew things about her, and yes I totally dig the politics and religion they are weaving into the story.
Re: Frack - This is homage to the old show, where they had made up swear words, including frack. I think the old show had some others, like you had to be careful or you would step in velgacarp. ;) Ya, I'm glad they just kept frack and didn't go overboard with it.

Also, did you catch the episode where they snag the cylon raider? That's not much of a spoiler, and I won't go into more detail, but I think that was around episode 8 or so. You are just getting into some of the big twists...

And finally, someone to talk about the show with! Although I guess we should move over to the TV thread ;)

I liked it, but not nearly as much as I was impressed by it. Holy hell that was a well made movie! I'm betting my enjoyment will either significantly increase or significantly decrease on repeated viewings. I can't tell which yet.

Stop thinking, start buying. I just re-read everything I have which is:

The Hard Goodbye
Sex and Violence (EXCELLENT one shot)
The Big Fat Kill
A Dame to Kill For
The Babe Wore Red and other stories (one-shot)
Lost, Lonely and Lethal
That Yellow Bastard

There is quite a bit more out there, and everything I have seen or read has been excellent, unique, and totally Miller. I sat looking at the art in Sex and Violence for quite some time, and a couple of the compositions are some of my favorite comic art, ever. Totally worth buying, this stuff. I also recommend Frank Miller's Ronin.
