Do you think Terrence Malick is in the same league as Stanley Kubrick?

I’m deliberately slow on watching Malick’s films, as they’re films that really need time to think back on after watching. I’ve liked what I’ve seen, and I actually really liked The Thin Red Line. Tree of Life is a film I can somewhat admire but I couldn’t get into as much as I had hoped.
I so badly need to watch Badlands tho.

They're both great directors, yes!! Both however aren't in the same league as Ingmar Bergman, Robert Bresson, Carl Dreyer, etc.

I don't care what anyone says, Badlands is easily his best.

Badlands looks positively gorgeous in 70mm

I still wait for it to come to Criterion soon.
