You just know its gonna be a bad movie when...

Sometimes the microphone shows up at the top of the screen because the projectionist doesn't project the film at the right aspect ratio. Not the filmmakers fault. Plus, you won't see this in modern film because the microphone is digitally erased when it shows up.

There was one in Milk.

Was it on the DVD? If the answer is "no", then you had a crappy projectionist. And, though I've not seen the film, from what I hear I'm sure the film didn't suck. I assume that the OP is suggesting that the actual film is bad, not just the theater opperator.

I only saw it in theatres. I googled it and lots of other people saw the same thing, so if it is a projection error, it's one lots of projectionists happened to make on that movie.

The mic being gone on the DVD (if it is) could also mean that it was simply cleaned up after the theatrical run.

It was a fairly good one.

By the way, I was responding to your comment that 'you won't see' boom mics in modern films.

Okay, I'll say it: you know it's going to be a bad movie when the Tomatometer or Metacritic score is low enough.

No, you can't tell if it's kind of mixed or in the middle, but when it's really low? Like, under 30% low? At that point it's insanely unlikely it's going to be good. I'll play those odds.

Sorry, overreacted a bit. I just get irritated because no matter what a person says on the internet there's always gotta be some guy sitting there fact checking every little statement. What I should have said was "You won't see that in most modern films." Better?

Yeah. Lets all stop picking each others posts apart, and acting like people that need to get laid very badly. MmmKay'?!

-------------------

I know its gonna be a bad movie when an actor tried legal means to get out of making the film, or refused to star in the sequel (Foster with Hannibal, and believe it or not Keanu in Speed 2)

Its gonna be a stinker when you go to see the film and it already stopped playing in the theater.

A film also sucks when part 3 is released and you didnt even know there was a part 2.

It's gonna be bad if Harrison Ford is in it? Really?

All those Star Wars movies are bad?

All the Indiana Jones movies are bad?

The Fugitive?

Witness?

American Graffiti?

Patriot Games?

Clear and Present Danger?

It must be a different Harrison Ford than the one I'm thinking of, then.

28 days...6 hours...42 minutes...12 seconds
.... When "Alan Smithee" directed it.

....The movie has no production logo at the beginning.

....From the studio that brought you....

.....Excessive use of the Welheim scream.
