Beetlejuice

Hey, I am obsessing about Tim Burton movies these days, and I have been re-watching Beetlejuice. I have realized that after all these years it is still quirky and original. It's such a strange take on ghost movies, and films about the afterlife. What's great is, it doesn't go through and explain everything to death(no pun intended); i.e. why they end up on "Saturn" when they step outside, and gives no backstory to the ghoulish bio-exorcist. I don't know why, but I love to talk about this movie. It's all in a matter of fact manner. Plus, the score is simply THE BEST!

I think this is the little-talked about movie, that I consider one of Burton's best.

You're a Genius all the time
Sure, I like Beetlejuice. It's got a dynamite cast and it's just a lot of fun. The best bits, for me at least, were the parts the titular character wasn't in. Kind of a stroke of brilliance out of Burton, actually, to use Keaton so sparingly. So, yeah, it's a nice, goofy movie. And I used to watch the cartoon when I was younger, so the flick has a little extra cache with me.

Yeah, I love the cartoon, and I also watched some episodes recently, and again it still holds up. Plus, you're right, the thing, I think, that makes the character so great is how he is not shoe-horned into every scene.

It was an original. Few funny horror films about but they are good viewing.

I loved Beetlejuice but upon re-viewing it doesn't hold the same cachet anymore.

The dinner table scene was my fav!

Personaly i hated that movie. Sorry for the buzz kill lol
I saw Beetlejuice when it first came out in theaters, and was bored to tears. On repeated viewings (I have kids, and it kinda comes with the territory), I've liked it a little more than at first, but I still think it's one of Burton's weaker films.

Celluloid Temptation Facilitator
When I watch films with my kids it often gives me a whole different perspective. For instance, I'll be worried they will be too scared or I'll be creeped out and they'll be laughing their butts off.

I really don't care much for Burton's recent films, aside from Sleepy Hollow. I liked Peewee's big adventure, and Beetlejuice the most because they're probably his least dark work, more of just off-beat character pieces. Edward scissorhands, and the two Batman films seemed too shrouded in gothic elements.

I am burdened with glorious purpose
I agree FilmFreak. Quirky and original.

I think Tim Burton brings something original and special to all his films. They can be very different, even if you can identify a film as a "Tim Burton" film. I think he's one of the best directors around.

Beetlejuice still holds up for me with repeated viewings. Many of his films do.

I remember not liking Sleepy Hollow because I had loved the story and Burton changed it. But the second time I saw it, I decided to forget all that. It's now one of my favorite Burton films.

I also enjoy Burtons films. Beetlejuice being amongst some of my favorites. very original i thought.

\m/ Fade To Black \m/
Beetlejuice is a fantastic classic and the whole film is insane lol

havent watched it in a long while but i used to really like it a classic performance by keaton hard to believe hes only in the film for like 15mins or something its a film i remember fondly from my youth

Hello Salem, my name's Winifred. What's yours
I adore this movie but it is by no means Burton's best, and im massive lover Burton's work and style. Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis sometimes get stick for being boring characters but I think they're the balance. It just doesn't work if you have all wacky all the time, in the PeeWee films it isnt just peewee being crazy all the time, there are the normal people to balance it out
