The Clintons have money too so I don't see a point here. Even before Trump we knew presidents need to have money to advertise and stuff; which is why Gary Johnson had no chance.

No, just the opposite. Jeb Bush was the top fundraiser on the Republican side, and Clinton outspent him in the general. 2016 was a huge blow against the argument that money is the primary determinant in national elections.
