Movies Centered Around a Single Woman?

Single and single would be preferable. No love interest (there's just way too many, and I'm looking for something different). I just started watching "Cross Creek" and the first 5-10 minutes reminded me of this movie I saw 20 years ago that I can't remember.

The woman was the only character. She narrated a lot, and there might have been some short dialogue with cameos (but not meaningless).

The only one-person movie I have seen is Robert Altman's "Secret Honor". You don't see anyone except Nixon. In fact, you only hear someone on the PA, and that was less than a minute long.

This time, I'd like to see a movie centered around a woman. The less characters, the better. Something reflective maybe, anything.

The only movie I could think about so far is Frances Ha. I loved it, and largely centres around Greta Gerwig but it does have a fair few characters.

The Shallows could qualify as well, even though it's a survival horror movie.

Girlfriends (1978)
Looking for Mr. Goodbar
Wanda

All three technically have love interests at some point of varying degrees and durations, but they are mostly about independent and (for a large part) unattached women.

Wendy and Lucy.

GWTW or Jeanne Dielman.

"La Strada" - Besides being one of my favorites, it's not a typical Hollywood movie where Gelsomina goes off and falls in love with another guy after leaving the circus.

I've done so many searches, and I've seen them all. I have about an hour to choose a movie, or it's going to be another do-nothing day.

The Bib-iest of Nickels
This was also what first came to mind for me, although, it does technically feature George Clooney's character.

What about that Reese Witherspoon film Wild? It has other characters, but it is ultimately about her hitchhiking by herself.

Jeanne Dielman (as mentioned before) seems to be the most logical choice, but I also like Under The Skin (2013)

Wild is a terrific book & movie.

Love both of these movies.

Another movie on the topic is Alice Doesn’t Live Here Any More.

I liked "Wild" and "Vagabond" (I liked that the girl wasn't the typical thankful type, and was not even willing to help the family that took her in)

Tom Hardy's Locke (2013) is also a great one-man show.
I guess Willem Dafoe's Inside (2023) would also qualify for this category, but I haven't seen it yet.

This thread is about a woman not a man.

It's also about a (mostly) single person performance and that disqualifies Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore. After all, it's the chemistry between Ellen Burstyn and Alfred Lutter that makes it such a fantastic film. Not to mention the supporting characters.

That’s your opinion. From my POV, it’s a story of a woman’s journey.

Quite a long time ago on this forum I mentioned that I really related to her getting the job in the bar & having a blister on her foot. I found my first job in NYC in a slightly similar way.

I agree, but that still doesn't make it a single-actor performance, which is what this thread is about.
