I just watched the first season of Girls5Eva on Netflix (though I believe it's a Peacock series originally) and I am absolutely loving it. The writing is very funny, the actresses are great, they did a wonderful job of casting people who can actually sing, and their references are highly specific.
The season-long plot arc is also handled really well, with fantastic callbacks and through-jokes. And as a rarity in this kind of format, there's some really nice nuance to characters (like Summer and Dawn's husbands, Dawn's brother, and even their sleazy ex-manager) who would normally be very thinly sketched out.
Anyone else watched this? I'm going to try to slow down a bit, because otherwise I'll be done with all three seasons by the weekend.
All of the fake songs are solid, but I'll especially call out "New York Lonely Boy" and "I'm Afraid"
