The Godfather (1972) -
So boring and pretentious. Why is the same theme played over and over again, like we haven't heard it a million times already? Why does Marlon Brando talk like he does, it's so annoying. And why is the film so slow? There just isn't any excitement in it. I have now come to the conclusion that the only reason why people like this movie, is because they're too scared to say that they don't. Or maybe simply because they want to be seen liking it. I don't know... I see this film sitting at the top of the MoFo 70s list, and honestly it baffles me.

I was just kidding, you philistines!
A family member watched it tonight for the first time, and how could I say no. Yep, just as excellent a cinematic achievement as I remembered. Sometimes you need to return to films this good, to remind you just how good storytelling can be.
A near-masterpiece, 9/10
