So if you like slice of life movies set in a small sleepy town, then this is perfect...but be forewarned that in the middle there's a very depressing hospital scene followed by another dreary funeral scene.

Director Herbert Ross does an admirable job of taking Harling's play, which takes place entirely inside Truvy's beauty salon and making this story look like an actual movie and not just a photographed stage play and does it with style and care...the movie is absolutely beautiful to look at and the s....
