same way everyone tries to get their kid into a good charter school. they will eventually try to get their kids into phone free zones. i'm glad phones, even just the shit ones, didn't become ubiquitous until i was in high school.

i listened to a really good NPR piece about smartphones and kids. the short of it was that if communities come together and say "hey, let's not let kids have a smartphone till high school" and commit to it that the kids just eventually forget about it and go on living.
