The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

It took almost a year, but Stelly and I finally finished this up yesterday. When we first got the game, it was just a bit too much for her to operate, as she couldn't really get the hang of the camera. By the time we were finished, she had grown quite a bit as a gamer, and was able to run around and do quite a bit in the content, although she still wouldn't fight anything aside from the easiest enemies.

Overall, an excellent game with a ton of charm and heart, with just a couple of nagging issues that bothered me as we played. I considered picking up Tears of the Kingdom to give her for Christmas this year, but I think I am going to grab something else, perhaps something with turn based combat so she doesn't get overwhelmed and want to pass the controller to me as soon as she sees an enemy.

Anyway, we did a ton of the content, getting about 90 of the 120 shrines done, and finishing up most of the side quests.

Yes!

Yknow, i bet theyre selling cheap now. Im gonna go get a used one somewhere. Nintendo games were always fun, and need something handy

Stick with either of the last two Zelda games, I bounced off the first one hard, came back years later, and it's become one of my favorites of all-time. And Tears of the Kingdom is somehow a lot better.

You ready? You look ready.
20 days later and it finally arrived!

this wasn’t supposed to have a PS4 physical release, but i think the studio that remade it is located in/near Germany. so that’s why this exists. totally worth the wait.

Started Robocop after beating Black Ops 6 the other day. Enjoyed it so far.

Looking forward to playing Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, the first is one of my favourite RPG's, only one month to wait!

finished modding the Wii today.

got the entire USA collection of NES, SNES, and Genesis games with a handful of my favorite GC games. gonna need to source a decent hard drive for Wii backups, but there's only a handful of games i even like for Wii. so it can wait.

but man, talk about money saved. retro games be crazy.

EDIT: I also made a patched version of MGS: The Twin Snakes with the OST from the PS1 version of MGS. is dope.

That elusive hide-and-seek cow is at it again
Still putting time in once or twice a week as I can. All of my game time has been absorbed by online co-worker runs in most of 2024. We finished the core of Remnant 2 a couple of months back, but we have filled time with Boss Rush, leveling up and tip-toeing into DLC. I got a guy into Outer Wilds. He finished it by the second weekend. I hate him.

My plan is to move into Diablo II by end of month, but who knows if that will play through.

Miss you punks.

out of curiosity i hooked the hacked Wii up to my 4k display. gotta say, the TV handles it way better than i was expecting. best part is the quality of life hacks that enable 480p and 16:9. for the games that didn’t have it before it’s quite a boon. plus, since the Wii is just an overclocked GC it all runs at a steady 60fps. kinda crazy! crazy good that is!

After years and years of "here comes the announcement!" and rumors and speculation, it's actually been announced: the Switch 2.

Saving you a click: bigger (duh), joycons that snap directly onto the sides, and some stylistic changes. No tech specs but I'm sure it's a significant upgrade, and I'm sure the screen is much better. Be interesting to see if the under-the-hood stuff takes its usual less-is-more iterative jump or adds a ilttle extra this time, contra how they usually do things.

Oh, also: it comes out this year. Not sure if that means holidays or summer or what, though.

Haven't clicked yet, so here's a question: if someone (me) plays pretty much exclusively on a 43" TV and not directly on the Switch itself, would I even see a quality upgrade if I knuckled and bought a Switch 2? (I have literally never played games ON the Switch itself. It's been permanently hooked up to the TV in my office since I bought it. And I use a separate wireless controller, not the joycon thingies.)

Also, it says April 2, 2025. (Or Feb. 4, if you're British.)

Also also, I don't even know if my current Switch has a kickstand, but I do like the kickstand on this Switch 2!

Dunno, we don't even have basic specs yet. But yeah it would be crazy for the quality not to go up meaningfully even docked/projected onto a TV after like five years. Nintendo tends to skimp on horsepower but even so there's always a significant upgrade after years and years.
