Although I've heard them and heard of them before I would have to say Calexico. Saw them live yesterday and it was fantastic.

now they were out - they were wild with freedom. They weren't thinking about the slavery of poverty. Or the slavery of welfare and food stamps. The rest of us would be all right until the poor learned how to make atom bombs in their basements.

I just watched a Leno show and this incredible being was performing. Imogen Heap. I've never heard of her but watching her perform was incredible! Like a female Howard Jones, including the hair, but much better. And a lot more attractive. What a fantastic artistic talent she must possess.... Any fans here?

If you get your hands on anything... send something my way before you shove it all in your mouth. Kay?

If I get my hands on any talent? Well, that could be tricky... But if you wish to listen to Imogen, just check her out at myspace. I think it was the coolness of seeing her playing live that did it for me though.

I got for good luck my black tooth.

I'm not old, you're just 12.
Wolfmother - silly name, but they rock like it's 1975. Sort of like if Jack White had a Black Sabbath fetish is the best way I can describe their sound. It just rocks INTENSELY.

You should definitely go! I know you won't be disappointed.... Iron & Wine plays the most beautiful singer/songwriter kind of music, then they switch to bluesy swamp country rock with a twist of psychedelia. Calexico are really eclectic. In short, as the name suggests, they mix americana with mexicana and are awesome live. Fantastic musicians! The collaboration numbers with both bands are also great, almost the best of the concert.

Plus it would be nice to hear someone else's thought on "the same" concert I recently witnessed.

I love the Michael Pitt Song "Death to Birth". But I like the acoustic version he played in the movie. I just listened to it 3 times in a row lol.

About a week ago I was searching for a similar sound to Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds. I checked out a band called 16 Horsepower. There are two songs that I am obsessing over right now; Sinnerman and Pure Clob Road. Fantastic!!!

ok, so let me begin by saying that all of your recommendations were spot on, you have a great sense for music no doubt, they're all raw, energetic...very similar to BYOP. I've only managed to download one song Richard Hell and The Voidoids. unfortunately i found the music to be a bit too old school rock and roll, even though his vocals are very much contemporary. but i suppose i can't hold it against them, it's pretty old music.

Bikini Kill was very good, however, i didn't really like the vocals and i'm a terrible sucker for well produced albums, theirs aren't. i like the raw sound of BYOP, but it's very clear that that album is extremely well produced. bikini kill on the other hand have not managed to go beyond the "we recorded this in our garage" sound....

and last but not least, Sleater Kinney, them i liked the most, in fact based on one song, i've decided to download The woods. they remind me very much of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and i'm all about the Yeah Yeah Yeahs ( at least Show your bones, i haven't managed to check out the previous albums but i have a feeling i wouldn't like them....again, i just have the feeling they're not very well produced and that turns me off ). i've chosen The woods because it's their most recent album and based on the reviews i've read, it's their best effort yet, although people keep mentioning The hot rock. also, i'm going under the assumption, as always, that the latest albums from bands are the best produced albums....(i keep harping on about the production value, sorry...)

and this fits in this thread, because Sleater Kinney really are my most recent music discovery, along with Calexico...

thanks again for the exellent recommendations....
