Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Basically when the "High" Evoluntionary guy says something in the vein of "I wanted the perfect society". That sets bells off to me. Socialism/Communism is always in the pursuit of a utopian society that will never be. That's why it's so appealing to people. But it always ends in evil. At least that's why my head went to.

101 Favorite Movies (2019)

Yeah, that is very flimsy. Even if it were true that socialism and communism were the only ideologies that wanted to create a "perfect" society at any cost, it's not supported by the text of the film itself as it constantly emphasises the warmth and community of its heroes in direct contrast to the cold and isolated hierarchies that its villains impose upon themselves and others. Not like a Disney-funded superhero blockbuster with a nine-figure budget was ever going to be a paragon of socialism in the first place, but it takes more than just interpreting one line of dialogue in the abstract to argue that it's actively critical of socialism.

They are the political manifestation of what Thomas Sowell describes as the unconstrained vision in A Conflict of Visions. This contrasts with the constrained vision which sees man as imperfectible, which results in a need for governments built with checks and balances to make the best society that can be made from the crooked timber of humanity. The unconstrained vision, on the other hand, sees badness in people are people bad training, upbringing, education. Thus, they go in for utopian projects that erase history, start at year zero, and attempt to create a better man to inhabit a perfected world. The American Revolution followed the former. The French Revolusion, the latter.

As a Kurt Russell guy I'm shocked but this might actually be my favorite of the three.

Found entertaining with Rocket's love interest. Other than that, wasn't overly impressed and a tad underwhelming. Rate the series:
1. The second
2. The first
3. The third

Caught this over the weekend, obviously going in with low expectations. I thought it was better than I expected but still not without its problems. My wife loved it, as she loves animal stuff, and therefore loved the focus on Rocket. I hate the stupid communist dog. The CCCP was responsible for millions upon millions of deaths, and represents some of the worst aspects of a failed system. Might as well just slap a swastika on the thing, as far as I am concerned. I understand, but don't care that it was canon re: the comic.

Anyway, a fairly somber affair, and was sad to see the saga come to an end, as I adore the first film so much. Despite its problems, still one of the better films in the most recent phase, but that isn't a high bar.

What do you think of the new Guardians? Would you watch a movie with the new team?

The new team could be a turtle, an accountant, and a can opener, but if James Gunn's directing I'd give it a shot.

This may have been the last MARVEL movie ill ever see. Haven't even tried Ant-Man 3 yet, and unless there's some overwhelming outpouring of love towards a new release ill just avoid them altogether. From Iron Man 1 up till Endgame was a masterpiece. Now?!
Meh. I think the magics gone.

Once Hollywood puts its own thinking ahead of the source material, or original successful formula it always spells The End. Case in point, I heard in Deadpool 3 they're not letting Ryan Reynolds improv' quips into the film. sigh!

Sounds like it'll be the best one yet

This was a decent flick, but you couldn't ignore the fact that there wasn't anyhing new shown here. Same old superhero stuff, jokes & action. Nothing of it will be remembered.

The new team, which most probably be for a series, will look like every other Marvel series.

On a side note, if you are looking for an enjoyable new superhero movie then the new Spiderverse movie is actually brilliant.

Too Rocket-centric but manages to smuggle moments of genuine sincerity, a rarity in Marvel movies. Most of the humor is still the bad old Marvel sarcasm/irony, but the emotional core of the story works rather well. The villain is pretty generic but I like how Rocket says "Because I'm a freaking Guardian of the Galaxy". It was almost exactly what I had thought about earlier that day about the inherent value of human life and how the fact another person cannot see that value in others doesn't mean that we are free from our duty to try to see the fleeting sparks of humanity that reside deep within that person's soul. Warlock's arc is another sincere moment, though I can understand the allegations of how on-the-nose, predictable, or glued-on it was. All in all, not that special in general. But special as far as Marvel movies go.

I think like most people I didnt really know anything about these characters but i went into GotG with an open mind. I thoroughily enjoyed the first movie and liked the 2nd one as well but not quite as much as the first. That being said there were many great parts in it ie Yondu using his arrow on the traitorous crew.

The 3rd one for me was a bit underwhelming. It didnt seem to have the same 'magic' as the others. I found the villain of the High Evolutionary to be a bit of a joke tbh. His shouting temper tantrums and being far too emotional to be taken seriously. I prefer villains not exactly to be emotionless but to keep their emotions in check as that makes them more intimidating. That being said GotG Vol.3 is still a fairly good movie and one of the better superhero outings of late.

This is another possible New Guardians of the Galaxy (many of the "Ravagers" were original Guardians in the comics.)

Just watched this on disneyplus i gotta say this made me a fan of the series.
