Trouble with a capitial 'T'
I haven't gotten to that one yet, but I'd also recommend Time of the Gypsies (it's from the 80's though) and Underground. With the latter film, I was just as mind blown as I was baffled by what I had watched. It will likely make my ballot.
I was just looking at the director's other films and Underground caught my eye. Time of the Gypsies is highly rated too, that title sounds familiar, I wonder if it was ever a nom in an HoF...too lazy to go and look

As Good As It Gets (1997)
Dir. by James L. Brooks.

I'll give the dog
. Helen Hunt was pretty good here and as my friend Gideon would point out she won a Best Actress Oscar for her performance as a single mother waitress being pursued by a bat-ass-crazy and way nasty Jack Nicholson. I liked Greg Kinear as a nice guy, gay artist who has to endure gay bashing from his next door apartment neighbor Jack Nicholson. The insults get ugly and I don't believe I've ever said this before but I'll say it now, this film hasn't aged well. It's suppose to be a romantic comedy but egads, could there ever be a worse romantic match between Helen Hunt and psycho abuser Jack Nicholson. Why this is rated 7.7 on IMDB is beyond me. I did like the ballsiness of the story at first, but Nicholoson's over the top character wore me out. Then the movie creeped me out when Helen Hunt falls for him.

90s movie #36

Society researcher, last seen in Medici's Florence
Arizona Dream (1993)
Dir. Emir Kusturica

So many great images in this indie surrealist dark comedy to choose just one. Stand out performances by the entire cast (Johnny Deep, Faye Dunaway, Jerry Lewis and Lili Taylor). Fascinating direction & script from Serbian direction Emir Kusturica. I'm not sure what I just watched but I'm impressed!

90s movie #35

I'm glad you saw this movie during the preliminary period.

Cradle Will Rock (1999)
Dir. Tim Robbins

'A true story of politics and art in the 1930s U.S., focusing on a leftist musical drama and attempts to stop its production.'

Interesting but hard to follow as there are lots of characters based on real people. Fast paced it helps to pay close attention and to read about the fascinating subject matter before watching. Big cast with lots of stars to many to name!

Easily my favorite movie of the thread, although I haven't seen it in quite a while. I considered picking it for you in the past in the Personal Rec HoF, good that I didn't.

Stay tuned, I'm still shooting for 100.

Waterworld (1995)
Dir. Kevin Reynolds

I don't care what people say this is one enjoyable and spirited movie! First off the movie looks great! Really big in scope. It's a big budget, spectacular film that was filmed out on the great blue Pacific ocean. No fakey miniatures and water tanks here, the sets are huge and look real, very real. Kevin Costner was a powerhouse in the 1990s and he's perfectly cast here as the laconic 'mariner' who sails the open seas of waterworld in his very cool tri-haul catamaran. Dennis Hopper is a blast as a colorful one eyed leader of the 'smokers' who's home base in an old oil freighter. This one is making my ballot and going towards the top of it too.

90s movie #38

Dry land is not a myth. I've seen it. Kevin Costner. Waterworld. I don't know what all the fuss was about. I saw that movie six times. It rules!

I'm curious as to what the movie industry would have become if Waterworld had Titanic level success. What type of movie world would we live in today?

Trying Real Hard To Be The Shepherd
Count me among the Waterworld fans but at the top of my list? No. Just too much 90’s goodness.

Is there a moment in a movie more funny and disturbing at the same time then when Costner picks up Tina Majorino and tosses her into the ocean because she’s annoying him?

"It'd be a lot wetter, that's for sure..."

Trouble with a capitial 'T'
I'm really wanting to see the extended version of Waterworld... 'Waterworld Ulysses Cut', which adds 40 minutes. Anybody see that? Better yet were can I find it besides buying it.

Waterworld needs the votes! Let's face everybody is voting for the biggies. Waterworld can use all of your votes!

If you can prove to me everyone is voting for The Mirror and Maborosi I will join you.

The Mirror and Maborosi sounds pretty good. You should pop into the 90s Group Watch, watch a film or two that appeals to you and if you're chosen to select the next movie, that would be a good one and I'd watch it, maybe it would even make my ballot.

I'm not voting for the biggies. I vote for what I enjoy. You know me better than that.

I know at least 4 of mine are pretty close to unknowns.

I actually haven't figured out my list yet, but probably most of the biggies aren't my favorites.
