Costner's 90s feature movies, I've only seen the ones that I bolded...I really liked them too. I did see JFK but not watching that again. But do you have any of these that I haven't bolded that you might be voting for? If so I'll try and watch them.

For Love of the Game (1999)
Message in a Bottle (1999)
The Postman (1997)
Tin Cup (1996)
Waterworld (1995)
The War (1994)
Wyatt Earp (1994)
A Perfect World (1993)
The Bodyguard (1992)
JFK (1991)
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991)
Dances with Wolves (1990
)
Revenge (1990)

Message in a Bottle (1999) is one of my favorite Kevin Costner movies.

@Citizen Rules

Patrick Swayze had a good run in the 90s.

You should watch Father Hood as well as his other films.

I just rewatched Patrick Swayze's Three Wishes (1995) a few days ago. It's not a highly rated movie, but with the exception of one scene near the end of the movie, I liked it a lot. (The one scene I'm referring to is nothing bad or hard to watch. It's just a scene that didn't work well for me with the rest of the movie.)

I was browsing through a list of some of the top romance and rom-com movies from the 1990s, and I realized that either I missed a lot of them, or I just don't remember these movies.

Does anyone have any recommendations from this list, or any suggestions of other romance or rom-com movies that I might have missed? Thanks.

Pretty Woman (1990)
The Bodyguard (1992)
Honeymoon in Vegas (1992)
Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994)
Clueless (1995)
One Fine Day (1996)
My Best Friend's Wedding (1997)
Ever After: A Cinderella Story (1998)
Hope Floats (1998)
Practical Magic (1998)

I haven't seen many of those. My favorite is Blast from the Past (1999) which I mini-reviewed on this thread, link on the 1st post.

This list is triggering marriage PTSD. Only half kidding. Some of these are pretty good. I have watched Hope Floats with my ex more than I care to admit. It’s a sweet movie and one that matches your sensibilities pretty well I think. Pretty Woman also just sticks out as something you should definitely watch. I’m not the biggest fan, but I think it’s a head above most rom-coms. Surprised you haven’t seen it.

Pretty Woman (1990), The Bodyguard (1992), Honeymoon in Vegas (1992), Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994), Clueless (1995), One Fine Day (1996), My Best Friend's Wedding (1997), Ever After: A Cinderella Story (1998), Hope Floats (1998), Practical Magic (1998), Sliding Doors (1998), The Wedding Singer (1998), 10 Things I Hate About You (1999), Blast from the Past (1999), Never Been Kissed (1999), Runaway Bride (1999)
The Bodyguard is in no way a RomCom, of course. Would not classify Practical Magic as a RomCom, either. Sliding Doors is more of a dramady. Hope Floats is a drama.

Of that list, Pretty Woman (1990) and Four Weddings & a Funeral (1994) are must-sees in my book, with My Best Friend's Wedding (1997) I'd slot just behind those two. Blast from the Past is very cute, Honeymoon in Vegas is pretty fun, Never Been Kissed is alright, One Fine Day is old fashioned but sweet enough.

My taste in RomComs is mostly different than your list (and not only because I cannot stand Adam Sandler). My favorites are...

Joe versus the Volcano (1990)
L.A. Story (1991)
Defending Your Life (1991)
Hear My Song (1991)
Groundhog Day (1993)
Barcelona (1994)
Muriel's Wedding (1994)
Speechless (1994)
French Kiss (1995)
While You Were Sleeping (1995)
The American President (1995)
As Good As It Gets (1997)
Grosse Pointe Blank (1997)
Addicted to Love (1997)
Rushmore (1998)
Notting Hill (1999)

As many as four of those titles may be on my ballot. Of course, your mileage may vary.

Pretty Woman (1990)
The Bodyguard (1992)
Ever After: A Cinderella Story (1998)
These would be my recommendations from that list. Also this reminds me that there are some Richard Gere movies I need to revisit before I vote.

Edit: Also I second While You Were Sleeping and Grosse Pointe Blank from Holden's list.

Did anyone mention Sleeping With The Enemy?

Back in the day, it was a popular movie. Not sure how I would feel about it now.

Dying Young was a good movie too.

Julia Roberts had a good run in the 90s.

Thank you for all the replies. Based on the recommendations, I've bumped these movies to the top of my watchlist:

Pretty Woman (1990)
The Bodyguard (1992)
Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994)
Ever After: A Cinderella Story (1998)
Hope Floats (1998)
Blast from the Past (1999)

I'm surprised that I haven't seen a few of these too, especially Pretty Woman and Runaway Bride, because I like Richard Gere, but I've never been much of a fan of Julia Roberts for some reason.

Notting Hill (1999)
Thanks for the info about several of these movies. I thought The Bodyguard was supposed to be more of a romance/thriller, not a rom-com, but I've seen the trailer and it looks like it could be a good movie.

From your list, While You Were Sleeping (1995) is a lock for my list, and The American President (1995) and Defending Your Life (1991) also could make my list.

I've seen Groundhog Day (1993), As Good As It Gets (1997), and Notting Hill (1999), and I like them, but they're likely to just miss my list.

I've also seen Joe versus the Volcano (1990), L.A. Story (1991), French Kiss (1995), Grosse Pointe Blank (1997), and Rushmore (1998), but it's been so long since I've seen them that I don't remember much about them. I'll have to rewatch them if I get a chance.

I saw Sleeping With The Enemy a long time ago, but if I remember correctly, I thought it was overrated at the time.

I haven't seen Dying Young.

Is there a moment in a movie more funny and disturbing at the same time then when Costner picks up Tina Majorino and tosses her into the ocean because she’s annoying him?
I cracked up laughing at that bit. It's the best part of the film, though I was the only person laughing in a full cinema, which I thought was weird and embarrassed the people I was with.

I haven't watched much of Swayze's work, but I love Point Break. It's not marked as watched for you, Citizen. I highly recommend it.
Whether you end up liking it or not, Point Break is a must watch.

Trouble with a capitial 'T'
A Perfect World (1993)
Dir. Clint Eastwood

For some reason I thought this was about an absent father bonding with his small son who he hadn't seen for years as he was in prison on a petty charge. I thought Costner had broke out of prison and took his son on a cross country trip with the police on his tail. Wow, was I wrong about that...I probably shouldn't make up my own synopsis! Not really the type of movie I was looking to watch last night with pizza...but it was well made and solidly directed by Clint Eastwood who's a favorite director of mine. Kevin Costner was exceptional in a role quite different than I had seen him in before. Of course any period piece film is a plus for me and so is setting it in the deep south, probably because that's quite a different place than where I live on the west coast. Oh, Laura Dern was looking great.

90s movie #40

You might like Ever After but it's not something I like for much other than Drew, but then, I don't like fairy tales.

I'm hit or miss with Drew Barrymore. I watched The Wedding Singer today and I realized that I seem to like Adam Sandler's movies when she's in them. I don't know if it's because those are his better movies or if it's because she's very likable in rom-coms.

Second Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994)
This is under high consideration for my ballot.

Several people recommended Four Weddings and a Funeral, so I bumped it up near the top of my watchlist.
I'm going to try to watch it some time this week.

I watched A Perfect World for a HoF a while back, and I liked it. I thought it was one of Kevin Costner's best performances.
I'm going to try to rewatch it for this countdown, but even though it's a good movie, I don't expect it to make my list.

For the most part those are the only Sandler movies I watch. Willingly, at least.
