Band Of Brothers

I think it is perhaps the greatest war film ever made. My favorite episode is #6: Bastogne. It's the medic's story.
If that was the Battle of the Bulge episode, that’s my favorite too.

To tell you the truth they were all moving I cried when they found the camp and had to put them back in it. What was that epsoide called Why We Fight? Ya that was it.
I cried several times. If Nix had been killed that would have destroyed me.

Just setting up e-mail notification!!!!
Wowser. You were really cutting edge back then.

Band of Brothers was an excellent series. HBO hit a homerun on with this.
Sure did. Seen it a million times.

Watching this at the moment... Gonna enter the last episode. Without a doubt one of the best mini-series I've ever seen.
Sure is.

Really great mini-series. The Pacific is also well worth checking out, although personally didn't think it was as good as BoB.
I own it, but have seen it only once. Can’t remember a single scene.

True masterpiece, I must have seen it right through 4 times.

You could call it one of the early TV works that broke through the divide between cinema and TV, making a Cinema worthy production but being 9-10 hours long.

Legendary
Agreed.

@MovieMeditation: You need to watch The Pacific.

I'd go so far as to say it's better than Band of Brothers. At least from an effects of war sorta thing.
Nothing is better than BofB.

I will look forward to your thoughts. Then maybe that will push me to finally watch it (if you like it).
After only two episodes, so it may not be accurate, but it feels like almost a sequer to BoB. It seems to focus less in the bonds between soldiers and more in the psychological trauma of each one.

If probably isn't as good as BoB though it's soon to tell. But it's definitely good!

1. E7 The Breaking Point
2. E8 The Last Patrol
3. E5 Crossroads
4. E3 Carentan
5. E6 Bastogne
6. E4 Replacements
7. E2 Day of Days
8. E9 Why We Fight
9. E10 Points
10. E1 Currahee

The whole series is greater than the sum of it's parts. It rewards binge watching.

It’s so brilliant.

I don't actually wear pants.
My favorite episodes are 5 and 7. I don't remember what they're called. Sorry...

Band of Brothers is excellent. It is one of the greatest things to ever grace a screen. Even so I can never decide if Band of Brother or Hatfields & McCoys is my favorite mini series. There's naught wrong with either of them except that one factual error about Blithe. There's also the Concentration Camp episode, #9, that I have a hard time watching. It's not bad at all. I don't mean that. I have issues with stuff like that. I'm not sure why though.

Admittedly the last episode of Band of Brothers is anti-climactic, which makes sense because the war ends so the series ends, and everyone goes home. I guess I want more? Except there can't be more; the war ended. Hm...

Pacific is great as well. It's just not nearly as good as Band of Brothers. That bar is really high so that's more praise for Band of Brothers than harsh critique of Pacific. Pacific is a lesser version of Band of Brothers, and still worth watching.

I want to resume Band of Brothers now... I made it to Episode 5 on my last go, and Episode 9 on my previous two attempts. That episode is hard. It's hella important, of course. "Why We Fight" and all. It's just ultra depressing and kind of scary.

You ready? You look ready.

good god, i am so glad i don't write like this anymore.

The Pacific went with a different format of storytelling...
Band of Brothers ran with the story of one group (with peripheral characters that cycled in and out).
The Pacific followed the stories of three different and mostly unconnected individuals and their experiences. This gave The Pacific a more disjointed feel as the focus had to keep switching between the three different main stories. Band of Brothers had a more homogenized and harmonious flow to it as the focus was a centered one. (That's why I think most people felt Band of Brothers was the superior series.)

I wrote that post like 4-5 years ago… and I still haven’t seen it haha
Oh dang I missed that. Yeah Pacific is another banger. It's just nigh on impossible to beat Band of Brothers (which I think we all knew).

I own the Pacific, but highly doubt I finished it. It just doesn’t compare against BOB.

Did we mention the score? So very moving. One of my fave episodes was the Battle of the Bulge one. If Nix had been killed I would have lost it right there & then.

One thing I like about Band of Brothers is that, while it basically only follows Easy Company, it focuses on different individuals throughout the series, and it does it smoothly. There are some soldiers who get more focus than others, which is understandable and works well, and others who shine more in some episodes than others, and it always feels fluid. Everything feels purposeful and coherent. Nothing feels like a waste of time. I always thought that was good.

Well said.
