Movies You've Seen Recently That Are Really Awful

People can hate me all they want but that's not going to make Rear Window look any better.

Besides, the question was asked, and I didn't see a list showing the titles that could not be mentioned.
I'm innocent and forum members will still like me.

The Guy Who Sees Movies
I can take it....in moderation.

The romance part isn't convincing at all and the novelty of watching a character watching other characters doesn't justify the film's generous running time.
As for the suspense, why should I care about an unknown character killing another unknown character?
I guess that's why they kept referring to the maybe-murder in the most gruesome details because there was nothing to get excited about.
As for the last part: trying to kill the man "who knew too much" in front of an audience? It's beyond stupid.

It's so bad on so many levels, it's got zero atmosphere and the fact that James Stewart's character is the biggest creep in this story is almost completely glossed over (because, well, the murderer is worse).

Rear Window is trash.
To each his own. I love it. Now what would you put forth as a favorite that we can all dump on? Are you willing to cite a favorite? I did.....your turn now.

No one is ever innocent But I still like ya, you do have the coolest screen name/avatar on the board. But I believe you made a typo, you must have meant to knock Hitch's Rope. Now that movie is seriously flawed

If you think of it as a perfect murder story undermined by a lame MacGuffin, then, yes.
But I think it's about a one-upmanship between two incredibly narcissistic characters, Rupert and Brandon.
Smug Rupert who can't stop talking about his fancy-intellectual theories, and psychopath Brandon who wanted to show him his pièce de résistance and let his former teacher know that he could do better than just talking about it.

I think, at the very least, it's an interesting film to discuss.

Hitchcock was very good in the horror and romance genre (The Birds, Notorious) but the ones that are supposed to be more clever or sophisticated usually don't work for me.
There's always something that works against the nature of the story.

Why would Uncle Charilie suddenly drop his guard and talk about widows in the most vicious way? It sure took the shadow out of it.

Why is Bruno stalking Guy when the whole point was to be strangers ('on a train") - OK, I understand that doesn't actually work in movie, but the fact that Bruno (of all characters) was emotionally triggered by Miriam's glasses does not make any sense at all.
And still, all of that could be forgiven if they had been interesting characters to watch.
Bitchy slutty Miriam was fun, but she got killed in the first act.

North By Northwest is a cracker, of course.

Alright, I'm "coming out" as a fan of The Baby (1973).

Go on, laugh! Taunt me! Bring on the tar and feathers.

I wasn't impressed with Gladiator 2. My review for what it's worth

I was disappointed. First of all, it. 's way too long. I also don''t know who Mescal and Pascal are. Neither are anywhere near to Russell Crowe in 2000 in stature. But Hollywood doesn't seem to create stars anymore.

From the CGI naval attack at the beginning to the overwrought dialogue this was not impressive at all. The best part was Washington and even he was miscast, I thought. The movie felt like a bad remake of the original and I thought it was campy and almost laughable in places (the monkey scene with one of the emperors). I could go on but I won't. 6/10

Victim of The Night
The 2000 Grinch movie. The Whos are so unpleasant to look at that I was relieved whenever the Grinch was on screen. I feel like it should be the other way around. That and the weird fish-eye lens cinematography make the whole thing into an endurance test. There's also all the animal cruelty to the Grinch's poor dog in front of and behind the camera: there's a moment where you can tell the real dog is genuinely scared. Jim Carrey is very good as the Grinch, but it's not enough to salvage it.
One of the worst movies I ever finished in a theater. Just awful.

My gripe with Rope is the horrid casting decision to use James Stewart. I like Stewart but he was all kinds of wrong for the role that he played. Even the movie matches names of other actors who would've been better in the role, like James Mason. Just that one mistake blows it for me, but otherwise it was a fun watch.

You're in luck....I've not seen it, but someone, somewhere must have liked it -

On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an approval rating of 93%, based on 15 reviews, with a weighted average rating of 7.26/10. Apparently, it had a live stage revival at some point.

That's some bad hat, Harry.
The Holiday - strange that this has become known as a Christmas classic.

Rope is one of Hitch's best.

100 years ago, if you saw someone who weighed 275 pounds or more, that was an aberration, almost side-show material. Today, 275 pounds is the person next to you at Walmart or, it may be you, it may be me. Keeping track of very fat people today is like keeping track of very bad movies, a fool's errand in an age of continuous nacho-cheese pump content-production.

Even I used to be over 275 pounds. Thank God that the past that'll never come back.

We all struggle with something. Just, please tell me you're not a fan of the movie "Cats." I don't know if I could handle that.

Recently awful movie what I saw was an old favorite Evil Dead 2 (1987). I watched it a couple of days ago after over 30 years and I have to admit it was bad, much worse than I remembered or maybe my taste in movies has changed dramatically. I also watched the first Evil Dead (1981) about a month ago, but it was still really good.

Evil Dead 2 is kind of weird. It's kind of a remake, but also more of a move into horror-slapstick. Army of Darkness is just full on silliness. This is an intermediary form.

I haven't seen it. Looks like a solid 1/10, though.
