CALENDER GIRLS : I loved this movie, it was really nice to see women who have not been, stretched, nipped, sucked, pumped, and botoxed, women that looked and felt real, also naturally beautiful for there age I give it: ****/*****

it made me laugh, cry, with sadness and joy, a great true story.

L'Homme du train
2002 | dir. Patrice Leconte
*** ½

Leconte is a smoking gun. And this is a beautiful, almost perfect film [I had minor issues with some moments, hence the almost perfect mark]. See it!

I'm not old, you're just 12.
Freeway - I am not sure I actually liked this movie, but it was good, if that makes any sense. Reese Witherspoon as a trailer-trash red Riding hood, and Keifer Sutherland as a mass murdering, sexual predator Big Bad Wolf....unique, and really disturbing. I give it a

Re-Animator

I hadn't seen it since its original release so I thought I'd give it a re-watch. That's a damn funny & campy movie. Stupid, but cool.

**Little Shop Of Horrors**

A musical extravaganza! Loved it. However without the songs it might not have been such a joy. The voice behind Audrey 2 rocked 'da house!

The Immortals~B~

The begining is really catching, funny while not trying to be overly so and it leads you in from there. The people in it are not gone into too much depth, a little downer of this film, but I can help but feel a bit for them when serious trouble comes there way. What I loved about it though is the plot, a little controversal and different, involving people with one problem or another, nearly all of them fatal. Aids, drug abuse, heart conditions, cancer....... This I think would be a good film for debates. Not a brillant film but one that takes a alternate route that insists on you following.

I too LOVED this film. I'd put it in the perfect category though, (I didn't really have any problems with it...and even if there were problems the movies beauty forced me to overlook them). One of the best films I've seen this past year. Check it out! You won't be sorry.

I personally didn't feel that the ending was very "clean", technically speaking. The first two acts of the film, however, are perfect in every sense of the word.

Give me the chance to watch it again, and I'll probably choose to overlook those moments which I though detracted, even though they only detracted slightly. It's definitely my favourite Leconte film since Monsieur Hire.

I've heard some very good things about Monsieur Hire. I plan on checking it out very soon.

Shattered Glass-(1st time)Easily one of the best films of the year. If you haven't read any of the marketing, or don't know the story behind the movie, I HIGHLY recommend you go in not knowing anything. A great movie.
28 Days Later-(1st time) Not nearly as scary as everyone says it is, but this is one really cool movie. Good acting, an awesome score....check it out.
Traffic-(1st time) One of the epics of our time. I LOVED this movie. Check it out.
Tigerland-(1st time) A very fun and entertaining movie. It also functions very well as an anti-war film. To top it off, it has a neat documentary feel. Great movie.
Looney Tunes: Back in Action-(1st time) Suprisingly very entertaining. Not always funny (although it was in several scenes) but there is a lot of detail put into it, and I enjoyed every bit until the overlong conclusion. Not a great film, but a good one. Take the kids to see it.
The Man Without a Past-(1st time) A great, touching, funny movie. Seriously, rent this!
Bonhoeffer-(1st time) A sometimes overlong but overall effective documentary. Very touching in parts. You never really get a good feel for the man it is about...but it remains a great piece about the period.
The Station Agent-(1st time) A fun movie. There was a lot of detail packed into this small 90 minute movie. Not one of the best this year, but still lots of fun.
21 Grams-(1st time) Another one of the best films of the year. I love non-linear films, and this one takes the cake in that category. A beautiful, haunting film with great performances. Check this out.
Timeline-(1st time) Very funny sometimes and it dragged far to often. It could've been pretty darn good, but it turns out to be another dud. (Not completely bad mind you....it was ok.)
Sleeper-(1st time) One of the funniest movies I've ever seen. Thus far I consider it to be Woody's masterpiece.
The Treasure of the Sierra Madre-(1st time) Easily one of the best films ever made. Perfect, heartbreaking, terrifying, beautiful, great....I loved it. See this now if you haven't.

The Piano
1992 | dir. Jane Campion
****

I've not been having a really good time with cinema as of late. I mean, I've been liking a whole lot. I haven't really been loving anything though. I think the problem is that I've been looking to go to bed one night feeling that the film I watched earlier that day was simply perfect, and that I could not have made it any better if I tried. That there was nothing missing.

And The Piano was that film. I sleep tonight.

Heavenly Creatures
1994 | dir. Peter Jackson
***

It starts well. It ends well.
The stuff in the middle is very messy. Not only in a technical sense, but in terms of story also.

The Missing Pretty decent western, but didn't really try to be scary like the trailers made it out to be. But despite that I really enjoyed it, and thought Tommy Lee Jones was excellent.

Scooby-Doo I don't even know what to say about this pile of garbage. The only redeeming factor, if it can be called that, here is Matt Lillards portrayal of Shaggy which was dead on, but other than that this was bad.

Dazed and Confused Good enough for 2 thumbs. This was a lot different then I thought it would be. In a good way, though. Very funny, and also very good portrayal of High School. Plus just an awesome soundtrack.

I See You When You're Sleeping
Love Actually

Well right up till the end actually, a fire broke out in the cinema and we had to leave. Refunded after an hour of waiting outside in the cold. From what I saw it was a really nice film although slightly cheesey in parts.

Cul-de-sac
1966 | dir. Roman Polanski
***

I would like to give this film a better rating than I have, because there was a lot about it that I really, really liked. It's worth seeing, if only for the wonderful performances of Donald Pleasence as George and Françoise Dorléac as Teresa, not to mention some of the beautiful imagery that Polanski captures on camera. But Lionel Stander is so grossly unlikeable as Richard, and the film suffers a great deal for it. And it's not even that the character is unlikeable. I don't feel he is. It's just the performance, plain and simple. It's not any good.

Definitely worth watching, maybe even more than once, but really only as a reference point for [some] wonderful acting, [some] striking visuals, and [some] very good writing.
