Currently trying to by a house. Question: Nice house in not-so-nice area, or not-so-nice flat in nice area??

From bitter experience - and I'm talking windows getting broken every few weeks, a police surveillance camera in our bedroom window pointing at the street and selling up 10 months later at a big loss (then moving to a smaller house in a nicer area) - nice area every time.

You can decorate a house but...well y'know.
