I'll post this - saw it tonight - after some weeks of blockbusters, we wanted to go to something minimal and small - an indie movie - Short Term 12. It's not for you if you need action, but, as an intense, small, no-name actor, zero FX movie this is really excellent. In this flick, young couple, secretly living together, also both working in the same facility for at-risk teens, encounter kids only a little younger than them, but with serious problems in life. Yeah, it's no-action, no-fx, no-alien, but it's excellently acted, well filmed in spite of its low budget, seemingly sincere, and completely engaging. If you have a theater in town that shows small festival and indie films, you should definitely see this. Excellent acting, believable writing, and a suspenseful plot made this into a movie that surprised me as to just how good it was. I walked in cynical and ended up a little tear-y.
