He really is the main draw about this film as he exercises an impressive amount of discipline in order to play Christy (as is the kid who plays his younger self).

Christy is born somewhere in the middle of his 13 brothers and sisters, they are a very poor Irish family, even with Christys disability the family never seems to give up hope even though there are some very rough patches that they go through.
