As mention, the presentation doesnt falter much, but what binds the terror together on paper is often a passing obstacle that holds the movie back a bit from time to time, keeping it from functioning like a complete story, where story and characters shine in the same way as the carefully constructed....

Even though the film feels predictable in the horror beats, with each scare simply leading into more anticipation for the next one, the film as a whole works.

Unless he's already filmed them, Muschietti had better hurry and start filming because I'm sure the kids have already grown quite a bit since filming the first part and the next movie is slated for 2019.
