Not back when cinema was being invented, Chris. They would have been thinking, "This thing'll last a few months and trickle out. Like Opium."
"But Opium is rampant!"
"Shutup."

Yeah...I see what you mean and all, but I can't help but feel that people worry in the same way every single generation.
Well, sure, there are a few that are really good. But even some of the older one's (Altman) are going to be dying soon, leaving behind films that are great, and people like, I know it's a bit extreme, but like Tom Green to carry the torch.
It is disapointing.
Although I know where you're coming from.

Uh, I wouldn't say its as bad as that. You don't think we've got new filmmakers and such rushing to take the place of older ones? I don't share that pessimism.
The Goon Show
It's like the end of an era.
The second in such a short time. First Chuck Jones, now Milligan.
It's like everyone you grow up idolising slowly dying off, leaving behind legacy's you love and copy-cat performer's you don't respect.
It stinks.

Oh, man, that is very sad news. Been at work all dat so I didn't find out until I read the shouts. Spike Mulligan was a Prince among men - and a gah-damn funny one too.
S.C. - you may recognize Spike from his cameo in Monty Python's Life of Brian, during the "follow the gourd/shoe" sequence in the middle of the movie.

Spike was part of the goon show with Peter Sellers and HARRY SECOMBE
