Sin City was a load of crap! I turned it off in the first few minutes. If people want to squinch at the screen for two hours trying to see past the black and white that's fine with me, but i for one want to see the movie in something called "coulor". People say the director was paying tribute to the comic books, well exuse me, but he was not writing a comic book he was directing a movie and if you want it in black and white then read the bloody comic books! If the movie was filmed normall it would of been fine.
The Dark Knight was also overrated because like Scarface, people didn't like the actuall film but they liked the "coolness" of it. I don't mean that in all cases but most cases.
NOTE: When i said people didn't actually like the Dark Knight i didn't mean it as in it was crap, i ment it as people exagerated the goodness of it.

And people like TDK and Sacrface so much because of how well it was made. With the story, acting, and just style it gets made in. People aren't hyping over both of those because of their 'coolness', they hyping over them because of how well the movies were actually made.

Most Tim Burton films. Again there is no reason to film the movie in a "dark" way. All it does is make it hard for people to see what is going on. Some people call it artistic, but it is not in any way shape or form.

Second, i think you are refering to Sin City when you mean "cool" movies. Sin City was not cool. People got put under the directors illusion that the film was "cool" because it didn't follow standerd American filming techniques. Just because it is diffrent it does not make it cool. Pulp Fiction was cool and it wasn't filmed in weird ways.

If you actually read the GN you would know that it follows the GN with being in black and white. And when trying to make a GN into a movie you want to follow it as close as possible, which for Sin City, meant that it would have to be in black and white, and Sin City did it great. And the fact that you want to limit yourself to only movies that are made in color is just plain sad. also learn how to spell color.

You might of liked Scarface and TDK but there are people out there who fall for the hype of it.
The Dark Knight was some people's fav movie months before they had even seen it.

No it's really just you, most people can see whats going on in Tim Burton's movies, and there's nothing wrong with making a movie dark if it should be, and most of his movies need to be dark. And it is artistic, maybe not you, but to most other poeple it is.

There's a difference in movies between being "cool" and being good. "Cool" movies are like Shoot Em' Up or Hitman, Good movies are like Pulp Fiction or The Godfather. I've been reading your posts and looking at your favorite movies and it seems you prefer cool movies over actual good movies, which is sad. And Sin City had style, which a lot of people loved.
eg. Joe Dirt. Not the coolest or the best movie ever, but look at my posts and you will see how i frequently defend it.

The Dark Knight had no stylized violence. It had simple big explosions, which were fine but not as good as action scenes from movies like Shoot 'Em Up or Kill Bill.

ummmm colour is spelt with a U in Australia. Just to let you know.
I also disagree with everything else. Movies aren't all about the action. I wouldn't consider The Dark Knight and Scarface to be "action" movies. Crank is an action movie - however, it's extremely lacking in just about any other redeeming features (and I didn't even find the action that good).
Also, you turned off Sin City after "a few minutes"? If memory serves correctly, that's the entire opening scene, which has a decidedly different feel to the rest of the movie. The rest of Sin City is worthwhile, even if you don't like "black and white".
Fine, its up to you. If you want to believe that anything that is done diffrent is "good" and "intelligant" that is fine for me. Personally though i won't fall for it.
On one final note, I watched Crank a few weeks ago and I thought it was overrated. Yes, I know it's supposed to be a fun little action movie, and that's exactly what I was expecting, but it wasn't even that good of an action movie.

I would agree with Iro that, if you only saw a few minutes of Sin City, that it could be worth your time taking another look. It's certainly a different film than the first 5-10 minutes. It was one of the, unfortunately few, films that was a lot better than I expected. That said, I did see it before real hype kicked in and I wasn't expecting much to begin with. Still, if you're bored one day, you could do worse than have another go at it.

A Fish Called Wanda I find to be ridiculously overrated. Far from consistently funny, and often barely entertaining. It's saving grace was, of course, our dear friend John Cleese.

What do you think is the most overrated movie of all time? Here is my list...
10. Titanic
9. A Beautiful Mind
8. Monsters Ball
7. Chicago
6. Braveheart
5. Armageddon
4. Lost in Translation
3. Mystic River
2. Scarface
1. Edward Scissorhands
Now im not saying that any of these movies are bad, as a matter of fact I enjoy some of them. Just think they get to much credit for being mediocre at best.

Armegeddon? Now who gives that movie a good rating? Oh no! Bruce Willis is going to sacrifice himself! Never has there been a more touching scene...
I missed that list. Braveheart? Scarface? Never! In fact, they cannot be praised enough. (Yeah, I'm biased. Check the favs list )

I gotta agree with Scarface though. I don't think people actually like that movie because of its cinematic value. They just think its cool because of the violence and funny because of the 80's camp. That's all people seem to care about these days. Pop culture has diluted the American mind! You want a good Pacino movie, check out Dog Day Afternoon or maybe the little known Scarecrow.
Sorry, but, Scarface is just not a great film.
