I watched this film about two years ago and today I spent hours trying to find the title of this film. Im pretty sure I watched it on netflix. I think it's a recent film, the earliest being 2000. Its not in english (not sure what language it is, sorry). The color editing was really cool tones, a lot of blue. There's a teenage boy who meets up with another boy for their first date which i believe is the first time they're meeting in real life. Either on this first date or another time they go swimming in a pool. There's a part where they go to a landfill(?) and thats where this movie takes a turn. The main boy sees/hallucinates a dead man(?) amongst some garbage and then I believe there's a random shootout that occurs. There's another scene in an abandoned building. The main boy ends up in a bathroom with stalls where someone ends up getting killed in there (either his brother or his boyfriend) which ends up not being real. I can't remember much past this point other than the ending being that he kills his dog/family (though this may have been a hallucination too). Also, his mother didn't approve of him being gay. That's pretty much all I can remember. Sorry if I sucked at explaining, this is my first time using a forum like this. Details are so hazy and I worry that Im remembering wrong. Thanks for reading at least :-)
foreign gay film that turns into a psychological horror?

Don't know the answer but the title description alone sounds amazing.
Maybe something like Xavier Dolan's Tom at the Farm? I haven't seen the film so I'm not sure that the plot fits exactly, but your description reminded me of the trailer.

No, it's not that but I did come across it while looking for this movie title and it seems interesting :-)

Revisiting the trailer now is making me really want to watch it, love Dolan's films!
I just looked up what films hes made and realized he did Martyrs. His movies are right up my alley, I should really see more
Dolan acted in Martyrs but didn't otherwise have a hand in making it.

IT TOOK ME ALMOST SEVEN MONTHS BUT I FOUND THE TITLE OF THIS MOVIE. It’s called The Blue Hour and was made in Thailand. I’m having an adrenaline rush
Woah. That's a happy ending. Good on you and thanks for coming back to the thread. Going to check it out now. Was it in your ear like a worm scratching away for 7 months trying to remember? I cant handle it when that happens for a day let alone 7 months.

I kept a note so I wouldn’t forget to keep looking for it. I’d go back every few weeks and search for a while. Turns out all I needed to google was “movie where two boys swim at an abandoned pool”.
