Why do so many moves have a yellow tint nowadays?

It seems that's the case, and it seems that older movies, being remastered, are now having yellow tints added in.

The new remaster of Blade Runner has a yellow tint on the final cut. The new Terminator 2 has a yellow tint since the 3D version came out. And The Good, The Bad and the Ugly had a yellow tint on the blu ray, which I haven't seen yet, but I read fans were complaining about it.

But what do you think? Is this a new fad or something, and if so, why has it become so popular, or perhaps even expected?

You mean me? Kei's cousin?
It's often because the director wanted to convey a certain mood. That said, some have taken to using it simply because it seems to be "in."

Roger Deakins has used the yellow tint, which I thought was kind of selling out for him, but maybe the directors all wanted him to.

Trouble with a capital "T"
TVs can usually be set to have either a: cool picture (blue) neutral or warm (yellow). But...a lot of new movies I've watched have an extreme yellow tint especially Woody Allen's latest films.

Blue Jasmine...ironically it's very yellow.

Yeah Blue Jasmine is what I am talking about. The last two James Bond movies and every David Fincher movie since for the last 10 years is like that too.

I watched Amélie last night and it was shot in yellow tint too, though I liked the look of the film.

This might just do nobody any good.

Huh?

Deakins follows directors wishes.

Yellow look. He lit for it and gave notice to post process.

I guess I just find the yellow look too look gross in some cases. I mean it kind of works in a movie where it's suppose to set in a hot dry atmosphere like Mad Max: Fury Road, but so many movies are doing it nowadays, it just feels overdone, rather than directors coming up with different looks more often.

I just started watching the Korean movie The Concubine, and it has a yellow tint too. Why does foreign cinema feel they have to copy American fads, instead of coming up with styles of their own!

A follow-up question: Why do so many HK movies from the 80s-90s have a blue tint?

Not sure. In the 90s blue was popular cause of Terminator 2, but not sure about the 80s.

One thing I've noticed is that, where there's a lot of CG environments involved, the colors are often desaturated, with a lot of lensflare thrown in, to overcompensate for it. What it gives the impression of being is that it's simply cheaper to halt the FX process at that point, because it can pass. But it looks very raw to me. Often, though, blue or yellow tints are involved. I'm sure giving everything a tint must help in the color correction process films use to keep everything looking consistent, throughout. But it's often very pronounced and not always to the films benefit, I'm sorry to say.
