MOFO 80's Teen Movie Hall of Fame

Tools

People finding things wrong with the some of the nominations.. even though they fall under the guidelines.

Perhaps Akira was popular with the teen's in Japan in the 80s... so its a Japanese 80s Teen film..

Most are comedies or happy go lucky time of nominations and not depressing but I seen one I wanted to nominate that was very depressive but it was a rare gem.. that I have never seen..

David is a high school student who seems to have the world on a string. One night while partying with his friends on a big bluff on the outskirts of town, David falls to his death. Everyone assumes it is an accident until a few days later, when David’s friend, Chris receives David’s suicide note in the mail. The suicide devastates David’s friends, family, school, and community. The rest of the film chronicles their grief and their inability to understand why David killed himself.
I might just watch it because its sounds like a great film even though its depressing.

I will watch say anything soon. I actually recently bought it so I have a psychical copy which is always nice.

Trouble with a capital "T"
Hope you guys all love a musical, cause my nom Grease 2 is a musical and a damn fun one! It's got a great mix of sexual innuendo songs being sung by horny teens and 80s pop rock numbers too!...And one helluva a motorcycle stunt that's done for real!

While riding on the back of a motorcycle, the girl swings her body around to set on his lap of the guy driving, and they make out...while doing a high speed wheelie!...and with no helmets...BTW that's not a stunt woman, it's Michelle Pfieffer doing the stunt. I think you guys might be surprised by this one...oh and no comparing it to Grease That's a totally different movie and this one has very little in common with Grease which was first a Broadway play. Grease 2 is strictly for fun.

If I nominated "Howard the Duck", I'm sure some would have complained.. Howard definitely isn't in his teen's and he's a duck.

Edit: no guy would ever complain about this movie... do you know why?

I remember seeing howard the duck as a kid lol.

I really really am gonna strive to finish this hof fast, as the other hof I was in (the 70s hof) I had a great start but ended up not finishing because of some personal issues which really bummed me out.

I love Howard the Duck then and waiting for the MCU to make their movie of him...

Women will be your undoing, Pépé
QUITE surprised that there is no Hughes films or that Heathers didn't make it, would have been fun for a revisit for that.
Still, quite a nice eclectic crowd to this. Looking forward to it. THANKS @MovieGal and @Citizen Rules for doing this!

Akira (1988) - Siddon Been forever since I saw this, so it should be fun for a revisit

Can't Buy Me Love (1987) - Velvet Never got around to seeing it, but heard it was pretty decent, so I will find out.

Once Bitten (1985) - MovieGal another I haven't seen since it came out and curious to see how it fares since then.

Better Off Dead (1985) - Ed When I think back to this time and teen flicks this one always pops into my head, in fact it was THE first one to pop in when this came up and quickly sent it in as a nom.

Say Anything (1989) - Rhys Another Cusack film and I am a fan, so I should be enjoying this one since I can't remember anything from it.

Teen Wolf (1985) - TUS remembering being so-so about this one when it came out but it doesn't mean it won't be fun to watch now.

Lucas (1986) - Smudge Never saw this, or I don't think I did, but will get to, now

Stand By Me (1986) - Sedai Been a long time since I saw this, so, another fun revisit

Heaven Help Us (1985) - Cricket Had utterly forgotten about this one, so YAY that it was nominated

Crossroads (1986) - ynwtf a classical guitar student goes on the road to learn the Blues. VERY cool

Three O'Clock High (1987) - Joel vaguely remember the set up to this and curious for the revisit

My Bodyguard (1980) - GBG Good choice! Been ages since I saw this.

Grease 2 (1982) - Citizen Rules No comparing with the original Grease, huh? We'll see about that Still, I have been tempted with Pfieffer being it in and all, now it'll happen.

Honorary Nomination, optional to watch
Yesterday (1985) - Ms. M Looked this up on IMDb and really like the premise, so it's a good chance I'll be watching this.

I would imagine a lot of us figured someone ELSE would nominate them and went in a different direction. Still, a lot of fun when there's a lot of lesser known films show up.

Michelle Pfieffer is hot in this It's easy to see how she became a big star after Grease 2 which was her first starring role. After that she was cast in Scarface and the rest is the stuff of legend.

can I just say that citizen has me pumped to see grease 2 lol. It sounds super super fun and most importantly very eighties

Ohhh, as a KID..right, OK, makes sense now..for some reason I thought you said in the theaters..that explaisn why I still feel old talking to you lol jk

I wonder if I should mention here a HOF I want to do

Should I?

and yes I posted this message first in Joel's HOF thread... damn it Joel... you make me think you would enjoy my new HOF idea....

One of the ones I want to do ... has my top #1 (2) favorite English speaking films

but would contain movies like

Army of Darkness
Darkman
El Topo
The Holy Mountain
The Road Warrior
Rocky Horror
Donnie Darko
The Room

and of course,

A Clockwork Orange
The Wicker Man (original film)

This looks like great fun. If anyone needs any inspiration for their "Teen Wolf" review...

...the classic 80's trope of the "other girl" who isn't storyboarded as the hottest, but in reality she is the smokeshow. That shot with the shirt .
