Get me to watch your top musicals, but no promises

I'm probably going to rewatch it before the deadline so I can better decide where to put it on my ballot, but I'm definitely voting for it. I might rewatch The American Astronaut too to see if I like it more the second time around.
I'll post my thoughts on it here. I'll probably watch these in more or less order. I need that kick in the ass to get me watching more musicals. I haven't done very well at watching them so far, you've watched way more than I have and I'm suppose to like musicals.

It's probably too weird for you, but I really liked Stingray Sam. It's from the same director and is very similar to The American Astronaut, but I didn't think it was quite as weird. It's only about an hour long and is on YouTube.
Did it have Russian subs on YouTube? That was the only copy on YouTube I could find.

Thanks ActionRocks...But I believe LazyTown is a tv series? If so that won't qualify for the MoFo Musical countdown as they have to be movies.

LazyTown IS a TV show based off a PLAY based off a book.

GGIL and Afram were both 1990s musicals/movies/plays. They're on the Tube with subtitles.

Technically, it is a movie (straight to media release) and for the last time I'M NOT TELLING ANYONE TO WATCH THE SHOW.
If it’s a recording of the stageplay, then it does not qualify as a movie according to the rules of the countdown.

Wait the countdowns have rules? Link or they don't exist
Quote from the host Thursday Next in the countdown preliminary thread:

Recorded stage productions are not eligible.

I have given you many recommendations but I understand if you can't get to them.
Are you sending in a ballot for the musical countdown? I don't think I asked about that before.

*So I said I would try and watch these musicals in order and I had planned on watching The Greatest Showman but the copy I had didn't work. But I will watch it. So I skipped to a movie that I already had.

The only one I can think of that I'd recommend that you (probably) haven't seen yet would be Wicked.

Annie (1982)

I really enjoyed this one. Unlike some musicals, the story was strong and coherent and the songs really moved the story along. Actually it didn't seem to have that many songs and when they occurred the staging was very creative especially in the orphanage. I have to say the kids did a great job and I'm not one to like movies with kids all that much. Aileen Quinn as Annie was so good that I forgot I was watching a movie. But the show stealer for me was Carol Burnett as the comically evil orphanage owner. Carol Burnett was so good that I now want to watch more comedies with her in it. Tim Curry of course gave a solid character performance as Rooster the conniving brother of Carol Burnett. Directed by John Huston one of my favorite directors.

It's not important if I've seen them or not as most all the musicals I watched were 20 years ago. And after 20 years I don't know if I can say I even remember them. So the idea here is that people would give me 1-3 musicals that might make their own ballot for the upcoming Top 100 Musical Countdown. That way if I watch them and include them on my ballot (assuming I really like them) the musical then has a better chance to make the countdown as it gets more points. Kinda of a promotional thing.

The problem with Wicked is that it doesn't come out until Thanksgiving. And that's only Part 1.

Why am I recommending a movie musical that won't be out for a few months?

Because I've seen the stage original, and I've also seen the trailers for the movie version, and I'm pretty confident it's going to be as good as the stage production, but with movie magic.

Aside from that one, I'm sure you've already seen every musical I would consider "highly recommended".

That list includes Singin' in the Rain, Yellow Submarine, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and Spielberg's West Side Story.

Also Les Parapluies de Cherbourg and 8 Femmes if you like French musicals.

I'll rewatch West Side Story the original version. It's a good one and long enough since my last watch that I need to check it out again before making my own ballot. Thanks

I'll rewatch West Side Story the original version.
The original wasn't bad, but it isn't quite as good as the new version, which re-arranges the songs to their original order and includes stuff from the stage production that the first version had left out.
