Easy:

Viggo Mortensen... the man f'in knows his westerns and giving props to great westerns like Red River (my favorite film of all time) and 3:10 to Yuma as well as some lesser known great Barbara Stanwyck westerns like Forty Guns and The Furies. Oh and one of my all time favorites McCabe & Mrs. Miller. Yeah, dude knows his shit and cool to see the western (my favorite genre) getting some love:

Viggo Mortensen’s Closet Picks
The Gunfighter
lol, I just saw this going back through the thread after I posted mine. Good call! And I've always preferred The Gunfighter over High Noon... as much as I adore the main theme of High Noon. The Gunfighter is a better film.

Astonished at how many of the films in these presentations I've never watched.
Same. And we consider ourselves to be film nerds. The depth of great cinema is insurmountable. Sadly most people will never see how great storytelling in film can be, as when young people are watching films it's the Marvel stuff, but the rest of the time they're scrolling through tiktok.

lol, it has been posted three times on this page.. Love both The Gunfighter and High Noon both make my all time top hundred with ease. I couldn't choose between them.. I do think High Noon's; theme, 'the clock', Grace Kelly, the photo/cinematography and third act gives it the edge for most viewers.

Christian Petzold is one of my favorite's directors - I love his enthusiasm; he made me smile in his "city of movies" - it's also cute how he pronounces robber as sounding something like 'rubber'

I love that he took People on Sunday, which is one I own and cherish but don't hear many folks talk about.

I don't actually wear pants.

Watching that was interesting. I mean that in a positive manner. I decided to look up Christian Petzold and four of his films grabbed my attention, so I saved them to my IMDb Watch List, and checked my library for them. I lucked out; the library has four of his films, including three I saved, so I requested Afire.

Your enthusiasm for his enthusiasm made me curious and some of his films sounded intriguing so I figure it wouldn't hurt to give at least one a shot. If I don't like it, I tried it out and will know that.
