This just reminded me of actor / director / screenwriter Albert Brooks adopting "Brooks" as his stage name.
His birth name was Einstein... and it would have been tough making a career as a celebrity with the name Albert Einstein.

This is an okay compromise. When I first heard the news I thought it would be simply Michael Douglas, which would become too confusing. By keeping the "Keaton" moniker as a middle name you will still be able to identify him at least.
