October 21st Wicked Wicked (1973)
Horror Inception 26/31
Wicked Wicked is a film William Castle would have made in the 70's taking a horror film putting in a gimmick and just having fun with it. Wicked Wicked's gimmick is that it's two films shot at once played at the same time. Basically it's a split screen for 90%. The film is the story of a hotel detective (those were a thing once) tracking a serial killer who does away with barely clothed females.
The creativity is pretty great, you get flashbacks while characters are telling their story, different angles of the same conversation, a musical performance while the action is going on. This is the sort of originality I like to see. Sadly while the visuals were there...and the story is great the audio did not work. You get distracted by the noise coming from both scenes which is a huge problem. To be frank if the film were 50 split screen it would be a classic especially looking at that killers design.
