Ich bin nicht verrückt.
That is odd. If I knew anything about the German language, I might be able to help, but I don't.
I write it off to Germans being weird (and I'm 3/4 weird by heritage... but 100% American... and staunchly independent).
I'm part German but very little. My family surname are mainly English and Scottish with a bit of German, Dutch and am part American Indian. My father looked very much American Indian but had blue eyes.

I find the study of language and words very interesting. I took Deutsche in high school because it was complex and most of our English is based off it.

There is a docuseries I watched long ago on The History Channel, that is now on YouTube. I'm planning on rewatching it soon.

Funny story - I took Spanish in high school. My teacher was also the German teacher. On the first day of class while taking attendance, she took one look at my last name and asked me, "Why aren't you taking German?"

I don't actually wear pants.
My last name is very German and none of my instructor ever pronounced it correctly. Even the person who announced my name at my undergrad graduation ceremony who knew how to pronounce it panicked and said it wrong. I corrected her quietly, so she made up for it on the loud speakers.

My German teacher was my school's only foreign language teacher. She taught Spanish and French as well.

I didn't want the easy way out. However, I have retained a lot over the years.

I can still do the basic greeting/info in German. I do listen to German rock bands too. This is one. The title is So close to me.

I never associated it with being a "give away" as to one's orientation.
(As far as I know, Ahnold, Lou and Franco are all straight. Does this mean Joe Weider and Charles Atlas were...???).
I don't know but I am sure many of their admirers were.

I have recently found out that Wendy's is selling Krusty Burgers

I read Temple of Doom is a prequel to Raiders of the Lost Ark so they wouldn't have to worry about reoccurring characters from Raiders of the Lost Ark aside from Indiana Jones. Addendum; there is more to it; Lucas also didn't want the villains to be Nazis again. Seems a bit of a nit pick to me because I figure a film set in 1935 can still have Nazis vis they rose to power in 1933, but maybe not.
