is this another one of those 9/11 conspiracy documentaries?
After this, I no longer have space to rent out in my signature area.

Bumping one of the funniest threads in the site's history.

If you're new, read the first post and then jump to this one.

Trust me.
I got through 3 postings and laughed the whole time

Who came up with the movie titles?

They're things people put down as their Favorite Movies back when the system was just text and didn't autocomplete or match to a database of films or anything.

I know.

Makes me think I should update a few things. Probably (definitely) not as dramatic a chance as last time, but maybe a few things could be updated or streamlined, since there've been a number of changes since then.

That said, I'm really pleased that even a decade later this doesn't feel dated, at least to me.

Yeah I guess its best to copy and paste on film names.

The new system does a good job of matching with or without accents and umlauts and all that. It'll even match if you start typing the title in its native language. But the old system was before TMDB's API was a thing, so it was just a text field where people could write anything. I did at one point build out a thing to look for common titles and common typos to make suggestions (even built a neat little function that flipped every two characters to check for basic transposition errors), but that was just a Band-Aid until the more robust solutions came along.
