MoFo Fantasy Football - 2024 Season

CMC leaves the game and will not return.
Yep. Just came to post that. As long as Yodas WR plays with a pulse tomorrow night he should win, and my season is officially kaput!.

Edit in - AND Taysom Hill just had a season ending injury too. Week "13" in full effect.

The trick is not minding
Well, I’ll win this week but I need a lot of help on the final week. I need to win, obviously, which isn’t an easy task with Yoda on tap, but at least he won’t have Daniels.

I have some sad news, fellas.

My dear friend Pete, who used to run The Beantown Champs in the league, has passed away unexpectedly. My friend Nick and I were sitting at my table with a board game set up, waiting for Petey to arrive, when I got the call from a mutual friend that he had passed. He had been out in his garage doing some chores, and when he was overdue to come back into to shower and get ready to head to my house, his girlfriend went out and found him. He was already gone by that time.

Just wanted to let you guys know, as he played with us for many years.

Oh no! I remember Pete.

Yeah, he played with us for years, even won a couple championships. He sent me a picture of it and everything in 2016 (below). Horrible news. Sorry to hear it.

Wow. Pete's involvement in the league pe-dates me, but very sorry to hear about your loss. Extra sad when they come so unexpectedly and suddenly. I had it happen with one of my longtime friends over a decade ago and I still can't believe he's gone.💙

So very sorry, Mike. Just saw Lisa's tribute on Facebook. Very sweet words, obviously a beloved person in your lives.

So sorry to hear about that. I do remember Beantown Champs from past years. Prayers for his friends and family.

Look at that game Jeudy had! Yoda would have beat me even if I played Russ Wilson. Good for you Yoda, and thank you for putting Old Yeller out of his misery. A whole season of woulda, coulda, shoulda, and some shouldnt a's and supposed to a's thrown in too. This will be my last Fantasy Football season. Maybe now I can enjoy the games again without reservations going in. I will be back for Fantasy Baseball though, I enjoy it too much, and might actually have gotten the hang of Roto finally after 10 plus years. Mm. Maybe close to might. If I grasped Roto as well as Yoda he might not have won last year. Alotta mights.

Let the night air cool you off
I want to formally apologize for giving Spaulding Josh Jacobs and Trey McBride for Malik Nabers. I expected Nabers to blow up and I was worried that Jacobs’ lack of touchdowns was going to be a trend throughout the year. Tee Higgins was missing every week, George Pickens had Justin Fields throwing him the ball. I thought I was potentially making one of those trades that could win me the league because I had the pieces at the positions I was giving up. Instead I just bolstered the biggest threat in the league’s starting lineup. Whoops. He beats my ass every time we play, no matter how good my squad is. This guy is a problem.

Most Fantasy trades seem unnecessary in retrospect. Rare that both parties benefit in the long run, somebody usually loses. Chalk it up to seemed like a good idea at the time.

It’ll come down to Sean and I for the last spot it looks like. He wins and he is in. I win, and he loses, I’m in.
Going to be an interesting weekend.

The trick is not minding
And here we are, the final week of our league play. Lots on the line yet, so let’s get right to it:

The following matchups are the ones to watch as we jockey for position and, for some of us, a spot.

1 Wylde Wolve (7-6)
Vs
11 Angry Men (4-9)
What’s at stake? A playoff spot for me. I need the win, but even that may not guarantee a spot. Both of us enter this contest on a 3 game winning streak, and Yoda looks to play the spoiler for the second year in a row against me. I’m fortunate he won’t have Daniels this week, but Jeudy is someone to watch as well. Oh, and some RB named Saquon Barkley.

2. Doomguys (9-4)
Vs
The Jackson 11 (6-7)
Doomguys are looking to get a bye, while Sedai is playing for….pride, perhaps?

3. Censored Clowns (9-4)
Vs
the Love Brokers (8-5)
Can’t be understated how impressive it is that Holden has come back from an 0-3 start, much like Adam did in 2020. I’m sure he hopes for a better finish, however. Spaulding would like to wrap up another bye.

4. Return of the Dark Decade (9-4)
Vs
Wide Right (7-6)
PW looks to get a bye, but much depends on how Spaulding and Justin perform this week. Sean needs to win to cement his spot.

@jiraffejustin I dont think you should kick yourself too hard because he would be just as powerful without that trade. Its the bench. Look at his bench! He has Derrick Henry and Jonathan Tatlor on a Bye and is able to still slot in 2 RBs both of which are projected over 10 points apiece. All of his bench players would be starters on any other team in our league. Literally all.
Plainly put, and if Im wrong please somebody tell me, but Spauldings team this year is the best team Ive ever seen in our league. The depth is indeniable. Its like a Fantasy Football eclipse which occurs every hundred years
