Interesting documentary relating to the Armenian Genocide. What man does to man is almost unbelievable.

Interesting documentary about people who scale mountains, go skiing through avalanches, etc., etc.

This Netflix documentary got ripped apart in the reviews. I enjoyed it & possibly might watch it again. People should look at the facts before flipping out. Cruelty to horses? What scene was that. The horses look like they’re much loved to me.

Thinking about catching up on some documentaries.
Attica looks like it might be good.

Would love to watch The Last Dance about the Chicago Bulls 97/98 but it's more than 8 hours and doesn't even count as a movie.

Also wouldn't mind seeing OJ Made in America, but has the same issues!

2 recent good ones I watched recently, Marx Can Wait and Hearts of Darkness: A Film Makers Journey.

Was not a fan of Close-Up.
Might not be a fan of Kiorostami, to be frank, but I’m going to watch a few other films of his to be sure.

I don't actually wear pants.
My favorite parts of Netflix were the Korean shows, and all of the documentaries. Unfortunately I don't have Netflix anymore so my documentary viewing has dipped. I need a new outlet for documentaries. Ooh Amazon's Freevee has some documentaries. I'll peruse that selection and see what strikes my fancy.

Some of my favorites are Car Crash TV, World War II in Colour, Animal Planet's Most Extreme, Devil Next Door, and Monty Python's Best Bits. I really was enjoying Movies That Made Us on Netflix, except then I didn't want to bother with a paid subscription at the time and haven't been able to resume it.

Wow I didn't realise everyone in Close Up played themself, lol.
Still not sure I'd call it a documentary though. Hmmm

I felt the same anyway (albeit with the caveat above). Though it was pretty good, but not like an ATG as I've seen people say about it.

I was JUST watching the HoD trailer funnily enough!

Yeah, it does certainly blur the lines, so Close-up can be a little difficult to pin down.

Well I started Eye of the Beholder, which goes over D&D art. It got a mite repetitive quickly and then I had to mellow out children so I paused it for a bit and checked here. It's fun to see the D&D art although hearing them talk about it is kind of boring.

It also has the worlds greatest tv programme. Neighbours.

The Warhol Effect -
I love Andy and his work, so this was right up my street. There wasn't a great deal new here (for me) but it's an excellent documentary and I might be marking a little harshly just because there wasn't really anything new for me? It was nice to 'see some old friends' from previous documentaries and books I've read about Andy and those years (during and after The Factory) and there was some new (to me) footage and interviews with people I'd not heard talk about him/his art before. I appreciated this was a documentary mostly about 'the art' but, that's kind of the point with Andy, more often than not, he was the art or, at least, if you tell a story just about 'the art' you can't tell all the story and, while there is plenty on the art, there is of course a whole lot about him too.

Made in England: The Films of Powell and Pressburger
- Another excellent documentary and another which had both a lot of information, backstory etc, and a lot of heart and emotion. It's obvious (even if we didn't already know) just how much Scorsese loved these films and how honoured he felt to have known Michael Powell. It''s a very good documentary, with some good insight into the history of P&P and how they moved from film to film, project to project, but also, away from each other before Peeping Tom crushed his career.

From Russia with Lev (2024)

I came across this serendipitously, and what interesting timing with more information regarding the Biden-Ukraine scheme coming to light recently. The documentary gives us firsthand details through Lev Parnas about how his scheming with MAGA helped disrupt news cycles, including what led to Trump's first impeachment. I acknowledge it's bias (produced by NBC and Rachel Maddow), but it presents the facts pretty well.

I finished the documentary and forgot to post here. It improved shortly after my post. The doco was pretty interesting for fans of the game, and even just of the art of the game. It was neat to see the evolution of D&D art. I enjoyed it.

Very interesting documentary from Montreal. The parents of these 4 children unfortunately have 3 of them gradually going blind without any cure. Only the oldest son is unaffected & there is no known blindness in anyone else in their extended family.

The mother is very strong. I feel whatever happens she will be the best mother. Father is very laidback & it works well for their children. They once got trapped in a cable car over the forests of Ecuador for almost 10 hours in the dark without food & water. As the youngest son said between tears Why is this happening to us?! (Safely rescued eventually.)

Five Came Back (2017)

I think someone else posted this miniseries recently here in this thread or in Rate The Last Movie You Saw, and this has some amazing footage. A couple parts may be a little slow and dry, but this was well worth sticking through.
