I remember back in the day when our biggest rival was the Raiders, then it was Broncos but for the last several years, it's been the Bills.

You should hear the fireworks here up by KCI Airport, near where I live.

Yeah, BUF-KC has just been unreal for years now. But it would definitely be a better rivalry if the Bills could have their day, even if only once. This was one of their best chances to date: they're as good as they've ever been and KC's been scraping by more than any year since they started this dynasty.

Guess they'll try again next year. I still wouldn't feel comfortable betting against them. Especially if this drives them to add a key piece in the offseason to finally get them over the hump.

And the rich get richer. That's it, I'm done with pro sports, most of the time it leaves me depressed and I don't need that, I just can't let disappointment roll of me like I did when I was younger. And in baseball, I'm sick of suffering through the Mariners, especially now with this tightwad owner who's wasting a superb pitching staff. I'll go out and see the minor league team as that's still fun and relaxing, but otherwise, no more, this is the last time I'm wasting a day watching teams I'm rooting for, lose.

End of rant.

I'm off to listen to my old Beatles records, they never let me down.

There was a lot of flubs on both sides. Missed throws, ball drops, etc. But it was a good game.

I had a lot less stress when we sucked. Oh well. Time to start thinking about baseball.

Mm! Baseball

Chiefs vs Eagles. Damn, well not what I wanted poor Bills, and I dont know to cheer for KC to get the threepeat, or for the Eagles to stop them. I dont hate the Chiefs like I did the Patriots, but its harder and harder to cheer for them now.

Wow...KC again. This is quite a Super Bowl setup.

@doubledenim: should have known that Travis ain’t gonna score. he’s dating a good girl and would never think about scoring without permission.

That's already been tried the past 2-3 years. It just doesn't work against this Chiefs dynasty which is honestly probably going to surpass the Patriots dynasty at this point. You can't tell me Mahomes won't win 3 more. Well you can but I wouldn't believe you.

My memory on this is really spotty, but they've made significant offseason additions each of the last few years? I guess I was imagining a Barkley-esque or Henry-esque splash. One big piece.

But really--and I know this isn't going to satisfy anyone--I don't think they actually need to do anything different. There's a fatalism in sports and sports fandom (which makes sense with the former, the players, but not for the latter, the fans) about outcomes, where because someone won they must have had some inevitable or fundamental edge. But these games are close and they could've easily gone the other way. And if they played it again tomorrow it probably would. Losing a few coin flips in a row isn't that unlikely. It just seems unlikely when it's a giant coin you flip once a year.

Yeah, maybe so. But this stuff can and does just stop suddenly. Lot of QBs have multiple SB trips in the first half of their career and zero in the second half. And watch out, if Reid retires, which seems inevitable at some point over the next few years. It's the confluence of coach and QB that always makes this stuff work at this level.

But they've already made history in the toughest competitive environment in league history, already done things no other team has. And I think measuring greatness purely in terms of SB wins or playoff performance is deeply flawed anyway, so I don't think he even has to equal that number to be greater, for reasons related to the fatalism stuff above.

Seriously though, the number of people who seem to legitimately believe the outcomes are rigged (not just that there were bad call) is somewhere between hilarious and unsettling.
