I think Jack Nicholson had the best run. From 1969-1975 -- Easy Rider, Five Easy Pieces, The Last Detail, Chinatown, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, The Passenger

Jack's a great one.

DiCaprio 2010-to this day is a great example of the recent times imo... save for one or two duds (The Great Gatbsy, Don't Look Up; but even those have their fans), all of his projects have been among the beloved movies of their years.

We're also living in a great Emma Stone run.

I just posted this elsewhere but Nicholson was film in the 70s

Max Von Sydow

Even though he was alive when I started the thread. Damn he was great in so many films.

John Cazale

He only made 5 films in his career, and all 5 were at the very least nominated for Best Picture Oscar.

1972 - The Godfather Part I
1973 - The Conversation
1974 - The Godfather, Part II
1975 - Dog Day Afternoon
1978 - The Deer Hunter

There's a good documentary entitled, "I Knew It Was You"

Oh cool, will have to check that out.

I’ve tried twice but I can’t get through Napoleon Dynamite
My first watch just left me with a question mark over my head.
My second watch corroborated the question mark.
It doesn't even seem funny until the third watch.
By the fifth watch, it's freakin' hysterical!

^Napoleon Dynamite is one of those movies that was much more fun to quote than to actual watch. I'd heard every quote ten times over before I actually saw the movie. Barely laughed at all at the movie but the soundbites still endure.
