Why do people hate ARMAGEDDON - whats wrong with it????

Tools

OK, totally unrelated, but I was just noticing that regina414 runs a (as of now, empty) blog called "Sexy Celebrity Features" ... ??? I thought I was being tricked by the bbusername code, but apparently it's really called that...

Do you wanna party? Its party time!
Besides the obvious, I'd also like to note that it wastes many good actors in it as well. Hell even Ben Affleck and Liv Tyler deserved better. I wonder how many of them were in the movie just to make some dough. Micheal Bay is a hack who can't even make movies that are so wretched people actually remember them. Uwe Boll may be god awful but since he's the Ed Wood Jr. of this generation he has a better chance at being mocked by future MSTK knock offs.

The first time I heard the song was on the radio... the second time was while watching the video... which just kinda ruined it for me... and, for the most part, I normally like Aerosmith's music.
Aerosmith was my favorite band when I was in about sixth through eighth grade. The first time I saw them or heard of them was on SNL when they played "Cryin'" I loved the song and then went to listen to the rest of the songs on Get a Grip, which I checked out from the library. I then started to listen to their old stuff. I would have been about in eighth grade or ninth grade when Nine Lives came out. I don't know why, but I immediately hated the singles off that album and didn't even listen to it. "Pink" and "Falling in Love is Hard on the Knees" were both awful. Then came that Armageddon thing and reafirmed it for me. Plus my musical tastes had changed by then. Now I don't even care about them much.

Ha! I did enjoy Blood Rayne more than anything Bay's ever done.

Bright light. Bright light. Uh oh.
Hey viddy, I love you, but why would watch BloodRayne when you won't even watch recent Spielberg or Jackson flicks?

Plus, I really don't think Michael Bay's movies are that poor. They're just popcorn flicks. I don't really understand why anyone would expect something deep or even realistic from them, but the ones I've seen are decent movie-movies. I realize that when you start crapping on something like Titanic, you've got to crap EVEN MORE on The Rock, Bad Boys, Pearl Harbor and Armageddon, etc. I don't think anyone who has watched a Bay film can't determine that they aren't watching a movie for a movie's sake, but sometimes that's enough. I haven't watched The Island and Transformers, but I personally don't fear my I.Q. will drop when I do.

It's true every people has different ideas, different personalities, and different aspect of life and that's it....some like them, some don't, so who care right we are different from each other. So just try to live with it buddy....that's what you called life!!!!....

Aerosmith was my favorite band when I was in about sixth through eighth grade.
They were my favorite at that time in my life too... except the album was "Toys in the Attic" circa 1975 or so. My best friend's older brother had it and we thought it was the coolest thing since Ted Nugent.

Oh yeah, Ted Nugent had a record (vinyl) back then called Double live Gonzo upon which he actually said the "F" word. Very controversial for the time

And don't forget the lullaby song, Leaving On A Jet Plane... It really puts me into sleep.

I've never understood all the hate-ons for Armageddon either.
Definately one of my favorite movies.

I don't think there was one single thing I didn't love about that movie. Action, romance, spaceships, asteroids...

I've never had a problem with Michael Bay either. His movies are always big-buget action extravaganzas filled with explosions and special effects. The ultimate popcorn flicks so I don't see anything wrong with that.

I think at one point Armegeddon and Independance Day were my 2 favorite movies.

I had just seen Deep Impact before seeing Armageddon and I don't suppose I was prepared for it to have employed the humor/playfulness, etc., that it did- compared to the straight-up drama of Impact. Maybe I'd have to see it again.

I enjoyed it for what it is - an action flick with some good special effects.

That scene with the animal crackers is funny...

I tried that with this girl I was seeing at the time who hadn't seen the movie...

She thought I was mental or something.

I goofed off on the computer, while this movie played. I obviously missed more than I realize, or the animal cracker scene is just short. It's been brought up 3 plus times now. What exactly did they do with them?

What?

A.J. FROST
I really don't think that the animal
cracker qualifies as a cracker.

GRACE STAMPER
Why?

A.J. FROST
Well, 'cause it's sweet, which to me
suggests cookie. And you know, to me
putting cheese on something is sort
of the defining characteristic of what
makes a cracker a cracker.

GRACE STAMPER
Baby, you have such sweet pillow talk.

Gee, I'm surprised I missed that.

Pillow talk!?! That line wouldn't even make me hungry, much less . . . I hope they weren't in bed, while talking like that.

Yep, I would say that this is a popcorn flick. I doubt I ever re kind-of watch it again. I rarely like disaster type films, anyway.

There was a little more to it than that.

Here's the whole scene...

Thanks for posting but I like Holden's version better... 'tis much easier to get through...

That's one of the reasons why....

Just watching that clip again reminded me of some of the other characters in the movie that, to me, just came off as a wee bit coy, pretentious, self-important...if not downright annoying. If I remember correctly, I had some issues with a few scientific/technical contrivances as well- but I'd have to watch it again to be more specific.
