What was the last movie you saw at the theaters?
Just saw Doubt, might go see Revolutionary Road today or tomorrow.

Frost/Nixon
Very good performances in the title roles by Michael Sheen and Frank Langella, plus a good supporting cast including Sam Rockwell, Oliver Platt, Matthew Macfadyen, Rebecca Hall and Kevin Bacon. Nicely structured and a decent adaptation of the play and comment upon the event and time. Nothing spectacular, but a well done bit of docudrama. Langella is worthy of all the praise he's gotten, stage and screen, though for me nothing tops Philip Baker Hall in Altman's Secret Honor. I do like Langella's Nixon better than Anthony Hopkins' in Stone's flick, and probably not quite as much as Dan Hedaya's comic take in Dick (1999). But Langella and Sheen do make it very much worth seeing, it's simply no masterpiece and ultimately not as interesting as simply watching the actual tapes of the interviews (now available on DVD).

Frost/Nixon (Ron Howard, 2008)
I certainly agree with Holden's take on the quality of the film. It's well worth watching, but I see it as a battle of wills where each mans' weaknesses are magnified, and somehow at the end of the day, David slew Goliath. Frost's original intentions for trying to do the interviews were shaky at best, and he certainly seems to get way over his head concerning trying to find sponsors to pay his expenses. When the taping of the interviews begins, Nixon proves himself to be the wily veteran who basically plays with his opponent, controlling most all of the first three of the scheduled interviews. But either fate or the playwright intervenes with that drunken phone call from Nixon to Frost the night before the final interview, the one concerning Watergate. From here on in, the film noticeably becomes more alive, with the stakes seemingly more important. It's also where Frost learns how to beat Tricky Dick at his own game.
The two lead performances are equally worthy of praise, but Langella will undoubtedly get the Best Actor nomination. The film is definitely mainstream entertainment and not especially daring or threatening, but it's certainly a film worthy of viewing. If you haven't seen it or don't know the facts concerning "Watergate", I recommend viewing All the President's Men as a prequel before seeing Frost/Nixon. If you're well versed in what forced Nixon to resign, I still suggest a reviewing of that earlier, better film to remember how amazing and crazy reality can actually be.

7 Pounds. Very interesting story supported by an impressing acting performance by Will Smith.

I saw The Spirit today didn't think it was great to be honest. It lacked true substance.
Would give it 4/10

Less than an hour ago, I saw, the remake of, The Day the Earth Stood Still.
Regardless of some of the negative things I have heard about Keanu Reeves, and the movie in general, I was looking forward to it.
Pffft.
It wasn't that good.
Doggone it.
I love the original, and I still do.
What was globe thing?
I like my aliens to visit earth in space ships.
Flying saucers if you will.
I thought Keanu Reeves acted fine.
I was waiting for him to do something that I wouldn't like in the movie, but he didn't.
Kathy Bates did the best acting in the movie.
She has come a long way from clubbing people's feet.
More self-control than in that other movie.
That little kid bugged me.

Last night, I saw the film A Thousand Clowns for the first time. It was a funny movie, which was somewhat bittersweet, particularly the end. The screening of this particular movie was part of an ongoing film series, which is a yearlong celebration of the Coolidge Corner Theatre's 75th Anniversary. The guys from a radio program called "Car Talk", which is run by two brothers who also operate a car-repair garage just outside Boston were also present for the screening of A Thousand Clowns, since it's their favorite movie, and there was a funny question-and-answer period after the movie. It was worth going.
I can't wait to see my alltime favorite film, West Side Story, which will also play at the Coolidge Corner Theatre, in mid-March of this year! yay!!

I saw The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
I give it a 4 out of 5. overall very good movie. Makeup effects were great, and the story line was unusual but very good.
