The best movie villian

Now With Moveable Parts
Yeah...I think the days are gone when the villian was the tall guy in the top hat, black cape, and mustache. Villian=The antagonist of the story. However mundane they may seem in comparison to the villians of old. So Robert DeNiro's charactor in Cape Fear or This Boy's Life, would count as being villianous in my opinion.

I think perhaps "villain" is the wrong word to be using this entire thread. I think "antagonist" perhaps, but not villain.

But then again you've got protagonists in some films that are villains.

We all have to start being more specific. There are so many of us that no matter what someone says we'll find something wrong with it.

No. I think villian is a fine word. It pretains. It does. I think people's ideas of what 'villian' means, vary. For the most part though...this thread survived pretty well. If we start analyzing every single thing we say...we'll end up with a bunch of over-disected posts. Know what I mean Jelly Bean?

Yes, it is kind of odd. It's a pain in some ways: you've got to be overly specific...which is *very* frustrating. Anyway, let's go from there: just list each in turn...the best villain in terms of a genuinely bad guy, as well as the best villain in a more relative term, IE: the guy in the movie clearly portrayed as the bad one.

I also assume, of course, that by "best," we mean the best-acted/written/whatever, rather than the one who does the most damage, or has the most evil plan in store. I'd have to say that Oldman's bad guys, while very, very good, and acted the best of the bunch here, just can't stand up to Rickman's SNEER. You know what I'm talkin' 'bout. That dirty look he gets...it's great.

Get Low, Get Low, Get Low
I really hate this guy that played in the patriot, he was the leader of those guys who rode around on horses, he was eventually killed in the end by Mel Gibson, he just annoys me to the fullest!!!
I also don't care for John Voight, even though he is Angela Jolie's father, he is a great bad guy, so is Billy.... the guy from titanic

My favorite villian I love to hate is Woody Harrelson in Natural Born Killers.

Honorable mentions:
Brad Pitt - Kalifornia
Tim Roth - Rob Roy
Gary Oldman - The Professional, well...all his movies
Dennis Hopper - Blue Velvet
Dwight Yokum - Panic Room, Sling Blade
Jack Nicholson - Batman

Now With Moveable Parts
Gary Oldman. A man you love to hate. D

Thanks for all those memories, LordSlaytan, quite a good bunch of villians; and everytime I read the name and the movie, instant visual of their dirtiest deed.

I've got a splitting headache
Definetely Michael Wincott ie.
Along Came a Spider
The Crow
Metro
The Three Musketeers

Megatron from The Transformers

vincent d'onofrio in the cell (ahhhh EVILLLLL )

and a good runner up is denzel in training day

Lets put a smile on that block
i havnt checked all the other posts but has everyone forgot about the original and best villians....the Disney Villians!
Scar from the lion king is about as EVIL as you can get....Jeremy Irons is a god at being like that. Other Disney Baddies such as Gaston (Beauty and the Beast), Ursulla (Little Mermaid) and the Sherriff of Nottingham (Robin Hood) are among the best. Not cartoony super villainsalso have to be Alan Rickman - Die Hard, Harry Potter (Not technically a villain in that one) and Robin Hood Prince of thieves. But yeah i have to also agree with Mr Oldman. Deliciosly evil.

Seraph of the Void
He had such sights to show you.

Lol! god he was a creepy creeperson. that quote just reminded me of another good villain,

Sam Neil in "Event Horizon." Very gross and creepy film,

"Hell is only a word.........the reality is much more worse..."

I think there´s no better than Joker, from Batman (in case you didn´t know).
If there wasn´t Joker, a big part of History wouldn´t been written.

Comic villains are a whole other subcategory unto themselves. My personal favorites among favorites...

1. Dean Vernon Wormer (John Vernon), Animal House
"He's a sneaky little ***** just like you, right?"

2. Dr. Einstein (Peter Lorre), Arsenic & Old Lace
"Where am I? Oh, here I am."

3. Prince Humperdink (Chris Sarandon), The Princess Bride
"Iocane. I'd bet my life on it."

4. Leonard Smalls - the Lone Biker of the Apocalypse (Randall "Tex" Cobb), Raising Arizona
"You want to find an outlaw, hire an outlaw. You want to find a Dunkin' Donuts, call a cop."

5. Hedley Lamar (Harvey Korman), Blazing Saddles
"Chewing gum on line, eh?"

6. Lex Luthor (Gene Hackman), Superman: the Movie
"Otisburg?"

7. Beetlegeuse (Michael Keaton), Beetlejuice
"Oooh, I'm feelin' a little 'anxious', know what I mean?"

8. Doctor Evil (Mike Meyers), Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery and The Spy Who Shagged Me
"There's really nothing like a shron scrotum. It's breathtaking. I suggest you try it."

9. Mr. Franklin Hart (Dabney Coleman), 9 to 5
"Why? Beacause I'm a sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot?"

10. Ray "Bones" Barboni (Dennis Farina), Get Shorty
"Fu*k you, fu*kball."
