The ending to the ring

after seeing the ring at the cinema quite a while ago i came out and didnt really understand something at the end. im not sure but i think the boy said to his mother "what will happen to other people when they see the tape" i think they were talking about the copy. if he did say this im just wondering why would anyone else have to see the tape? why not just destroy it? correct me if he didnt say that but its been playing on my mind for months

It was beauty killed the beast.
Rachel and her son, Aiden, have to show the tape to someone else to ensure that there can be a sequel.

A novel adaptation.

Well, that and the fact that this is a remake of a foreign film that had a sequel.

Although, admittedly a rather ill-advised one. I think the plot had something to do with a bunch of scientistsd discovering that the video actually killed people because of a disease that is found on the film.
It's unfortunate that this plot is only slightly scarier than, say... Unicorns and rainbows, but I think the American sequel is going to use a different story.

Mother! Oh, God! Mother! Blood!
This was my take on the ending:

In order for Rachel and the son to survive the seven days, they had to make a copy (Rachel made a copy and she survived; she held her son's hand and pushed record so that, technically, he made a copy, so he would survive). The reason the people who made copies survived was because they were keeping the memory of the girl alive. The boy says, "What will happen to the people who watch this copy?" The irony is that the people who watch the copy will die, but they are saving themselves, and that's all that matters to them.

I haven't seen, and don't know much about the original foreign film, but I've heard the original is a Korean Film and explained things a lot better than the American remake.

The originals are Japanese and there are three of them. The first one made was Ringu which Dreamworks made into The Ring, and after that the made a sequel followed by a prequel.

Kong's problem with the end is why a killer girl ghost would spare someone who made a copy. They may have kept the memory of her death alive, but allowing the knowledge that making a copy of the tape will save your life to remain in the human population is a good way to run out of people to kill.
