Spy Movie 60-70s either coldwar or ww2

the only thing i know is that a group of US or British agents infiltrate a city and their boss wears a mask when they communicate with him of what intel they found. and before they start they have to snap their fingers in a specific pattern its their password. and one of the characters there was a gay man knitting or i think it was a man could have been and old woman.

color movie in english from 60s or 70s could have been from the 50s too not sure.
