Worst movies of the 21st century.

I have never seen such a poorly made film. It has fatal flaws in the plot
I didn't really hate this film. What is this fatal flaw you speak of? If it has something to do with the time travelling, then most time travel films have major flaws in them anyways.

My vote goes for a little independent film called CARNIVORE.
That's funny. As soon as I saw that word I immediately thought of one of the worst films in the 20th century 'Carnasour'.

It came out around the same time as Jurassic park and was obviously intentional there.
I remember telling a friend of mine to definitely go see it cause it was as good, if not better than Jurassic Park.
He ends up going and there is this huge line up (for another film of course) and he's thinking "Wow, it really must be that good." He walks into the theatre and it's empty. Walks out again, checks to make sure he's in the right place and he's like "D'oh, I just got screwed" Heheh.......sucker.

And yes, if you knew him like I did, he definitely deserved it. Mm-hmm.

As for the 21st Century, for the moment there are two that immediately come to mind.

'Hollywoodland' and ''The Sentinel'

A system of cells interlinked
I'm a fan of Indie zombie movies so lets just lump them all togather and say they are the worst. God I love them.

Aside from that I thought Descent was a waste of a net flix movie. I can't think of anything off hand that hasn't already been said, but in general I would have to say most every movie for the past ten years or so.

I don't understand the bad mojo around Ghost Rider. The critics tore it up as well. It is because I've never read the comic book, and it screwed the story line up. I heard something about them using the old Johnny Blaze character with the new Ghost Rider look, which is some other guy, but aside from that I haven't heard of any huge differences.

I guess I just took it for what it was worth. I comic book movie with some cool effect here and there. It was worth watching just to see Eva's cleavage, and plump lips through out the movie.
You liked Ghost Rider, which is, IMO, one of the worst films ever made, not just in this century, and you didn't like Neil Marshall's excellent The Descent? Ghost Rider had exactly zero redeeming qualities, and failed in every single aspect of film making that I can possibly think of. Meanwhile, The Descent built tension wonderfully, was shot really well, and actually tried to develop some of the characters...

My vote is for Ghost Rider. One of the worst films ever, and clearly, the worst film of this short century so far...

Escape: Hollywoodland? Seriously? I liked that a whole lot...

Dude, you're crazy, man. I was ten when Carnosaur came out. I think I watched it back to back with Man's Best Friend. God damn, both of the movies were awesome.

There were a lot of terrible movies that came out in the 20th century. I'd like to hear what some of the early to mid 20th century movies were that sucked.

MOVIE TITLE JUMBLE
New jumble is two words: balesdaewrd
Previous jumble goes to, Mrs. Darcy! (gdknmoifoaneevh - Kingdom of Heaven)
The individual words are jumbled then the spaces are removed. PM the answer to me. First one with the answer wins.

I just want to say something about Hollywoodland and what I hated about it. I hated the fact how it had no pace to it. It moved around much too slowly and didn't need to show any of that crap with the detective and his family problems to continue to throw a monkey wrench into the story everytime it seemed like it may start moving along again. It was just downright boring and depressing to me. One high note was I thought Ben Affleck was perfect for the part and looked pretty damn close to how George Reeves looked back then.

Freddy Got Fingered reeked of a strong unpleasant odor too. A friend of mine at work insisted to lend it to me cause it was hilarious. I wanted to throw up on the 5 year old sense of humor throughout that film.

Nooooooooooooo Pimp Nooooooooooo. It even used a hand puppet at the end there. A sock with two holes for the eyes would have looked better.

I ain't gettin' in no fryer!
Now automatically, you have to throw all B-movies into this category. Some are better than others, but the more recent stuff (ie., Carnosaur, Man's Best Friend) is a natural toss in for worst movie.

Others that come to mind...
Dude, Where's My Car?
Kung Pow: Enter the Fist

Those are really the only two coming to mind right now. I mean I can go back since Carnosaur is being thrown out there, but the title of the thread is 21st century.

Birth. (kidman). This was one big joke. Perfect stranger (berry and willis) Oh why do they bother?

I think Spudly's right; some stipulations are necessary. It has to be a major studio effort of some kind, for one, otherwise it's all about who can track down the most obscure B-movie.

Anyway, I always want to participate in these types of threads, but just don't see many terrible movies. I suppose I've gotten pretty good at figuring out which movies I'll hate, and which I'll find decent, and usually avoid the former. Consequently, I almost never end up sitting through the likes of Glitter or I Know Who Killed Me, even though I'm fairly sure I'd hate them both.

I hear what you're saying about pace; Hollywoodland definitely felt a bit disjointed to me. For awhile, it looked like it was trying to get some sort of Rashomon multi-perspective thing going, but it spaced them out so far and it never really brought everything together. Still, I thought it was solid. Put it this way: I didn't regret buying the ticket.

But, I imagine the ambiguity of it all was probably intentional. And you're right, Affleck was very well cast in the role. I'd like to see him get back to this kind of work on a regular basis. While some of his bigger roles have been appropriately maligned, he's not a bad actor by any means.

Agreed.... I think I gave it a minus 5 in the Movie Tab....

Yeah that makes sense. Actually Carnasour came out on the big screen so is why I gave that as an example of a late 20th century bomb.
I'm not sure but do B movies actually make the theatre in this Century. I know they did in the mid 20th. I don't know that much about B films really.

I ain't gettin' in no fryer!
I think it all depends, really.

I remember seeing some at the end of the 20th century in theatres that were B's. I think I've seen one or two this century, as well. I guess it just depends on what theatre it's being shown at. A more reputable establishment probably wouldn't run one, but a $1 theatre, probably would.

Pathfinder-I think this movie should be banned,I can't believe that I wasted time and money on this sh*t
Again everything that is Uwe Boll.Hmm that gives me an idea I should make a list of my favourite worst movies of 21st century

There are those who call me...Tim.
Aliens Vs Predator

It was tedious enough when you could actually see what was happening.

I think you mean Showgirls.
Which disqualifies.

I know one I walked out on was Dark Water...can you say slooooooooooooow?

Clerks 2 is another bad movie. I loved the original, and I was hoping the sequel would be somewhat like the first, but it was terribly worse.

Speaking of Ghost Rider, I'd like to mention another recent Nicolas Cage movie that without a doubt gets my vote for worst of the 21st century...."Next." I mostly saw it because it was based on a Philip K. Dick short story (The Golden Man), which I love, but wow. I would honestly recommend this movie to any movie fan because for me, it completely set a new standard for really bad sci-fi/action. It wasn't even a fun, so-bad-it's-good modern camp type thing, which is how I thought of Transformers...it's just a pitiful, pathetic, I don't know what. Anyone have any ideas as to Nicolas Cage's career choices these days?

P.S. The short story is so different from the movie, that had it not been credited as the alleged basis for the plot, I would never in a million years have guessed the movie even tried to rip off Philip K. Dick.

This is a tough one for me. I am a huge movie buff and I would say that I am a fan of films of all genres and generations. However, that said this past ten years have been absolutely terrible for movies. Some of the worst garbage I have ever seen as oozed it's way onto the big screen before my eyes. Here are just a few:

Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within
Unaccompanied Minors
From Justin to Kelly
The Honeymooners
The Heartbreak Kid
10,000 B.C.
The War of the Worlds
Garfield
Good Boy
Freddy Got Fingered
Joe Dirt
Not Another Teen Movie
the "Movie" spoofs (Scary Movie, Date Movie, Epic Move, ect.)
XXX: State of the Union
White Chicks
88 Minutes
Vantage Point
The Day the Earth Stood Still
Anything from Uwe Boll
Anything from Rob Zombie
Anything from Micheal Bay
Anything from Sophia Copolla
Anything from Roland Emmerich
Anything from George Lucas
Hollywood Homicide
Australia
I could go on all day. But I think you get the picture.

The Heartbreak Kid
The War of the Worlds
the "Movie" spoofs (Scary Movie, Date Movie, Epic Move, ect.)
Anything from Micheal Bay
Australia
Okay, so maybe it was just me, but I thought The Heartbreak Kid was hilarious, I really love Ben Stiller as a comedian though.

Woah, wait what? War Of The Worlds was great, despite what many may say, I actually loved it. It's very underrated.

So maybe the recent ones like Epic Movie and Meet The Spartans have been bad, but the first two Scary Movies were hilarious, and the 3 was sorta funny.

Transformers was a good movie for what it was, it was only meant to be a fun action movie, and that's exactly what it was.

What? I loved Australia, it was far from being one of the worst of the past decade, Australia was probably one of my favorites of 2008. And the cinematography for it was just amazing.
