CAMEOS (Surprising, Delightful, Infamous, Weird, Unexpected, etc.)

Movie called "Made in Heaven" has Tom Petty
Oh! OH! And you just reminded me...

In The Postman (1997) Tom Petty shows up as the "Bridge City Mayor", but the funny part is they never identify him by name and Kevin Costner says something like, "I know you. You're... famous."
And Tom Petty says, "I was once... sorta."

Frank Oz...

Steven Spielberg...

in The Blues Brothers. This movie was also chock full of cameos.

Bright light. Bright light. Uh oh.
I've always liked the cameo Tony Curtis has in Rosemary's Baby. His character is not seen in the movie, but he's key to two scenes. First, Guy (John Cassavetes) gets a call that Donald Baumgart, Curtis' character, who got a part that Guy wanted, has gone blind and that Guy now gets the part. Later, when Rosemary (Mia Farrow) learns that a personal item or piece of clothing may be used by witches to cause damage to a person, she calls Donald on the phone and we hear Tony Curtis' voice. He says that he's still blind, and she asks him if he missed something from when he had met with Guy before his tragedy. He says yes - the men had exchanged ties so Guy had his and he still has Guy's. You can hear the frustration and resignation in Curtis' voice, and there's no doubt you can tell it's him, but if you haven't watched it repeatedly or lately, you may have never noticed Tony Curtis in it before,

Bill Murray in Zombieland. Best cameo ever.

The moment Woody says "I've been watching you since I was like... Since I could masturbate" I lose it everytime lol

Which reminds me I haven't watched Zombieland in at least a year or two and I ****ing love that movie so I'll probably rewatch it here soon since I got it on DVD,

It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963) - It's almost hard to talk about cameos in this movie since the entire thing was a comedic who's who of Hollywood of the early 60's.
But in addition to the huge cast of characters involved in the plot, one of my favorite cameos was that of Jerry Lewis.
He's only in a few-seconds long clip and is uncredited as "Driver Running Over Hat" (as he runs over Spencer Tracy's hat with a car).

Also of note, in uncredited appearances are Jack Benny ("Man in car in Desert") and The Three Stooges appearing as firemen!

Interstellar

WARNING: spoilers below
when Matt Damon shows up and promptly made me wish McConaugheeeeeeyyyyyy would decrease the circumference of his windpipe.

A related topic is controversial cameos. What I mean is; when people can't agree on if a cameo occurred or not.

One of these that comes to mind is the claim that John Candy appeared in Hercules in New York (1969 - Arnold Schwarzenegger's first movie).
Now I think it's been all but confirmed that it's not John Candy in this movie. There's a heavy guy appearing in a wharf scene who has a similar body type as Candy and, from a distance (only!), resembles him.
Yet there's been arguments over the years whether this was John Candy or not - if there's any doubt, check out the IMDB discussion board for Hercules in New York and you'll find the John Candy argument (over ten years since it began) still near the top of the page!

Survivor 5s #2 Bitch
It's not technically a cameo, but the woman on the original I Spit on Your Grave is supposedly of a 16 year old Demi Moore, nothing certain has ever been claimed, except that the lead, Camille Keaton, did not pose for that poster.

I know this is kind of obvious but I'm watching Hitchcock movies and I find it very fun to make a game of finding Hitchcock's cameos in his own films
