Best movie of the year and the only one that I can seperate from the pack.

There have been some good movies this year, some wonderful, but none of them have been quite like this.

Cold Mountain - the best movie about the Civil War I've seen. Many, many, many great performances in this movie. Excellent.

I saw Citizen Kane in college. I worked with the film as a class project and got and A+. It actually impressed the communications department so much , that they took one of my doings and presented it at the college's film festival at the end of that semester.

As for Citizen Kane itself, I give it a .

Dirty Work-(8thish time) Terrible, terrible movie...but insanely funny. I might give it a thumbs up someday.
The 47 Ronin, Part 1-(1st time) Looks beautiful, but it dragged and the translation of the subtitles was terrible. Still...I'm giving it a thumbs up. Good samurai flick (I still need to see part 2), but there are better.
The Name of the Rose-(2nd time) Still my favorite movie ever. Brilliant movie. Check it out now.
Ichi the Killer-(1st time) The most violently entertaining movie ever. It works well as a satire of sadism and masochism, as well as insanity...but most of all it was good old gross out fun. Don't watch if you are faint of heart.
The Conversation-(1st time) Shocking and brilliant cautionary tale. Check it out now.

That one had its moments, but I'll take Screwed over it anyday. That is if you meant the Norm McDonald movie Dirty Work.

Put me in your pocket...
The Italian Job~ I liked it. And, I liked Mark Walberg more than I thought I would.

Alex and Emma~ A disappointment. I'm not crazy about Kate Hudson...and there wasn't much chemistry between her and Luke Wilson. He was passable I guess, but nothing special in this. Neither actor has the same quality or 'it' factor that Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan have....or even Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant.

The movie wasn't horrible like View from the Top. It had some cute moments, but I was just hoping this movie would have been better than it was since Rob Reiner directed it.

Westward the Women
Black and white western. Very interesting and probably controversal during its time. Should really hand it to the actresses involved here.

The Ring
American version.
Unfortunatley I have seen the Japanese version first which shows up this version a bit. I guess they had to Americanise it for their desiginated audience but in the translation it has lost quite a deal of what made the original great. Didn't scare as it should have done until the final reel and the beginning scene. The actual tape recording itself was also wasted. Where the Japanese had a real physcological feel this one went out for a more obvious approach which is what it the film wasn't about. Not a bad film but disappointing. ~ B ~

Matrix: Reloaded

I did mean that one. I haven't seen Screwed yet, but I will!

Screwed is hilarious. Norm Macdonald and Dave Chappele are hilarious together in it.

Recently watched Chasing Amy, it was a lot more serious than any other Kevin Smith movie which felt kinda weird to me. Good though.

A Beautiful Mind-(1st time) A beautiful movie. As much talking as I did about how Lord of the Rings should've won best picture, I don't mind that this did at all. Truely a masterful film.

This is Spinal Tap
A subtly hilarious piece of british humour. Love the stone heng part.

Revenant, none of the key creative talents involved in This Is Spinal Tap are British. They're all Yanks: Rob Reiner, Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer. But the dialogue is improvised, and as castmembers Tony Hendra (who plays the band's manager Ian Faith) and Patrick MacNee (who plays record company executive Sir Denis Eaton-Hogg) are both English, I suppose there is some "British humour" in there.

And what did you think jrs? Fun popcorn flick or unforgiveably dumb?

When I saw at the cinema, I honestly must say I had a fun time. I enjoyed it. I just bought it on DVD this evening, and even you haven't or have seen it, that is well worth watching as well .
