The MoFo Top 100 Action Movie Countdown

Brokeback Mountain might as well be an action film, then. It's got more action than Lord of the Rings.

Only seen 3 of the last 5, but Temple of Doom was my number 1. One of my top ten favorite movies, the movie that made me fall in love with movies in the first place, has my favorite scene in ANY movie I have ever seen, and an easy choice for my number 1. And in my opinion the best Indiana Jones movie.

My List: 9
Seen: 69/80

1. Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom
5. The Avengers
6. Dirty Harry
9. Desperado
13. Mad Max
15. Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl
21. Demolition Man
22. The Raid: Redemption
23. Escape from New York

Who said anything about where it ranks? You said "everyone knows Raiders is the best" as if it was some kind of indisputable, commonly understood fact, when it actually is only your opinion. When I say "this movie sucks" (which is something I rarely say, usually I say "I hate this movie") I'm expressing an opinion, which I don't always feel needs to be qualified and I'm speaking only for myself. I never claim that my statements represent "everyone."
I said everyone knows Raiders is the first and best Indy film its why the Doom Fan boys get mad over it. Thats what I mean by everyone knows that really Temple Of Doom is second or 3rd best they just love there movie. Its like being a Football fan. You are a die hard fan but can never admit to some other team is better.

"Better" and "best" as it pertains to art is completely subjective. You can't actually know something that isn't an actual fact. Raiders being the "best" Indiana Jones movie is an opinion. Even if it is the opinion of the majority, it is still only an opinion.

Also your analogy to sports fandom is false. The quality of a sports team can be measured much more objectively, by games won, points scored, etc.

Bright light. Bright light. Uh oh.
My List
3. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (#22)
4. The Incredibles (#66)
5. LotR: Return of the King (#37)
6. King Kong (2005) (#84)
7. Saving Private Ryan (#50)
8. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (#39)
N/A. Total Recall (#25) - This should have been my #9 but I had a brain fart; that would have given it 17 more points and all those beneath it one less.
9. Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (#98)
12. Braveheart (#58)
14. Point Break (#27)
15. The Return of the Jedi (HM)
16. LotR: The Two Towers (#43)

Seen 78/80 of the Top 100 and 48/48 of the Honorable Mentions.
Not Seen
97. Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children
93. Fist of Legend

>3> Nah. "Better" and "best" are relative terms.

The bridge scene.

MULA RAM! PREPARE TO MEET KALI... IN HELL!
That is an objectively good scene, it objectively conveys a strong visual metaphor for the culmination of the proceedings, and it's resourceful use of the environment with respect to the cinematography and position of it's characters makes it an objectively potent highlight that is both unique and memorable, especially given how objectively objective it's objectives are.

Also it's just fun to parrot this line:

Feigning an frowny underbite is objectively essential to delivering the line convincingly. I would not believe that Indiana Jones intended to send Mola Ram to hell if he did not look so goofily intense.

Nothing good comes from staying with normal people
25. Total Recall Fun Movie, prefered True lies
24. Enter the dragon Seen it once, didn't leave much of an impression other than a tournamet takes place.
23. The Killer Haven't seen, heard many good things. Sits on a shelf, waiting...
22. Indiana Jones and the temple of Doom Great movie, river of crocodiles appearing and dissappearing
21. Hard Boiled John Woo and Chow Yun-Fat at their best, need to see killers.

Honorables
Deathrace 2000: Saw it, thought Carradine was good, Stallone was wierd.
Pacific Rim: My #13, so of course it didn't make the list, what was I thinking?!
Last of the Mohikans: Never seen, don't know much about it.

My list

1. The Crow
3. The Kingsman
6. Final Fantasy VII
10. LOTR: The Two Towers
12. The Incredibles
13. Pacific Rim
16. Pitch Black

21. Legend of Drunken Master

Women will be your undoing, Pépé
Had The Killer at #3. My very first John Woo movie and my favorite. Followed very closely by Hard Boiled at #5
I also had Enter the Dragon at #17. You CANNOT have an action list WITHOUT Bruce Lee and in particular, THIS film

My List:
#1 The Raid: Redemption (33)
#3 The Killer (23)
#5 Hard Boiled (21)
#7 John Wick (48)
#8 The Good, The Bad, and The Weird (Honorable)
#9 Ong Bak (Honorable)
#14 The Crow (31)
#17 Enter The Dragon(24)
#18 A Better Tomorrow (Honorable)
#19 Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol (47)
#20 Desperado (20)
#23 Casino Royale (53)
#24 300 (46)

Watched: 73/80
Honorable:37/48

Hard Boiled (1992) - Never heard of it.
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) - Temple of Doom is my least favorite movie of the Indiana Jones trilogy, but it's a good movie. It's just a bit too dark for my taste.
The Killer (1989) - Never heard of it.
Enter The Dragon (1973) - Haven't seen it. In fact, I think the only thing that I've seen Bruce Lee in is the old TV series "The Green Hornet".
Total Recall (1990) - Haven't seen it. (Although Hubby seems to think that I've seen it, but if I did watch it, then I don't remember anything about it. )

Honorable Mentions:
Death Race 2000 (1975) - I think I watched this movie a while back because Hubby wanted to see it, but if I remember correctly, I didn't like it.
Pacific Rim (2013) - Haven't seen it.
The Last of the Mohicans (1992) - Haven't seen it.
