He seems to be having fun doing this Poirot films. Haven't seen any of them (I've seen the Orient Express original), but is any of them worth it?

I think they're all worth it. They have a lot of visual style, and as you can see from the casts they have way more acting talent than is strictly required.
Definitely worth it if you don't already know the stories/solutions, but even if you do they're pretty fun. I like the whole thing, even while never loving it.
